Shopping Thread .. or What Did You Buy?

I won't buy a mouse without making sure it fits comfortably with my hand. This is something the guys (the salespeople at Staples are mostly young guys) have trouble understanding. To them a mouse is a mouse is a mouse as far as size and shape are concerned, but I've had to explain to them that A. I have small hands; and B. I also have arthritis. A comfortable fit is critical.
I have a box full of failed mice purchases. I hate how huge and bulky most of them are, it's very uncomfortable.

I've had good luck with slim mice - they fit just perfectly and are comfortable to use. I like ones such as this:

Ordered fiber broadband about 10 days ago - it's being rolled out under a government scheme across the nation to poorly served areas. My area randomly is one of the first enabled.

Engineer came to survey three days after ordering - said we would need a new pole.
Got a knock on the door this morning - we're here to install your pole. Should have fiber broadband next week.

$1100 to install a 240v outlet in my garage. They're adding a new wire that can support it, on a new circuit. It'll be done today, and will be worth it in the long run.

I bought my first ever smartphone — a secondhand Sony Experia X5 — a couple of weeks before Christmas.

Have been spending the past week or so starting to fiddle around with it, at least partly because my old dumbphone-battery appears to be on its last legs — plus, having connected my name to my PAYG SIM (I assume via F***B***'s 2-step login registration, since that's the only place they were associated), Deutsche Telekom sent me an SMS + letter last month, warning that they were going to disable my current number if I didn't put more cash on that account before the end of this month (I don't use my phone much, so it's still got about 10 Euro on it from the last time I topped it up, >18 months ago...).

That is a bit frightening. I would do a GDPR SAR to find out what is going on.

I would be very surprised if it was from a site, rather than something you provided when buying the sim card or a subsequent top up.
Would the site have your address?

IIRC, the SIM-card was originally bought from a pharmacy or a supermarket (as was the cheap-ass dumbphone it's currently in, later on), so sure, it's possible that the debit-card billing-info was passed along afterwards. It could also have come from a top-up, if the Postbank told Telekom who I was (though in both cases, they would have had no right to do so, without my permission).

But I'd had the SIM for nearly 10 years (and 2 phones) before I gave the number to F***B*** to 'improve' my login-security (*hollow laugh*) — and it was only shortly after that point that I started getting 'personalised' SMS-messages from Telekom.

So yeah, I'm pretty sure that Mr *uckerberg is indeed the guilty party, in this case...

I bought a 10'x10' "big blanket" that is so cozy warm.

35 fresh made Monday, NY bagels to be delivered Tuesday.

Another professional development book. A French grammar book. And a one-foot extension cable—short, but just the right length for my hair clippers. The normal cable is something like three or four inches too short, so I didn't need anything crazy long.

That's a lot of bagels.
They freeze very well and come in packs of 5. 3 Everything, 2 sesame, 2 cinnamon and Raisin. I'll mix the bags and space them out over a couple of months or so.

I just received a 57mm anti-tank gun platoon for my Flames of War army. I hope I'm about through buying stuff because this is getting expensive. (airbrush for painting all this came a week or two ago, I've been using it to apply primer but think I'll need to use a brush for the color coats)

I spent $3000 and 2 days to build myself a good PC recently.

The 3060Ti is solid and the monitor is so bright I can tan with it :D

Good luck on the first power-on!
Remember the good old times (a couple of years ago exactly) when with $3000 you could buy the best PC in the world with top graphics. Now it only reach to get a fourth tier graphic card. Not saying 3600ti is any bad, it is wonderful, but has 3900, 3800ti and 3700ti above it.

Hah, good luck getting any of those.
Plus the 3060 ti is just as good as the 2080.

But ya, I settled on 1440p gaming because I wanted the fps more than 4k and my card was not the best.

3k bought a lot more gaming computer before crypto took off.

Tell me. I am stuck with a 1080ti since 2017 or so.
I paid for it about 700€ brand new. Go figure. Would like to get a 3080ti for flight simulation in 4k and VR but not gonna pay 1600€ plus CPU plus motherboard. I am not that crazy for PC stuff anymore.

And I thought I spent way too much. :p Anyways, the case arrived dented. So now I have to wait on a replacement case.
