Shopping Thread .. or What Did You Buy?

Attach your harpoon to it and you will be ready for post-apoc Norway.
This car is very un-mad maxy so we'll need a little more than that but I like were you're heading.

I bought a audio jack extender. I have wired headphones (I know) but the cable was too short. I wont keep yanking them off my head now!

With some of my relationships, I've come to be really into the idea of buying niche cards for birthdays and holidays. I still buy generic packs of cards, since I like sending them and there's just too many people to send to, but it's been nice to find the "perfect" card for someone.

Anyway, bought two really cool cards before I ended up in the hospital, along with postcards for when I'm in Seattle (since I doubt I'll make it to a tourist-y shop, and these look nicer anyway) and a generic pack of Christmas cards. None of them arrived while I was gone, but they all came yesterday finally.

I also bought a long pair of pants a couple months ago because I only had two pairs before, and one was ripping while the other was too small. They sent the wrong one, but it is surprisingly really good. Now I need to figure out what the wrong one's model is so I can get more.

I bought two $2 Powerball tickets on Monday. I did not win the $2 billion jackpot (some guy in CA did though) nor did I win a lesser prize. That was my frivolous entertainment budget for the month.

It's nice sometimes to hope. At least for me. Imagining what you'd do if you suddenly had financial security and could pursue your goals at your leisure.

Hey, it's been a couple years. Maybe I should buy a ticket.

Yes it is just hoping. The odds of winning are 1:292 million

I haven't even opened it yet, but I came into some money for lasting ten years at work. Most of it goes into regular costs, but my wife encouraged me to get this (attached) as a treat to myself.

I didn't have any of Tolkien's works myself, though obviously I'm a huge fan. Read my mum's copies too many times to count. Happy to have one of my own, especially one with his illustrations in it!

Very nice, i have the one with Ted Nasmith's illustration on the cover

After a couple of months break I went to a recycling center to see if there were any interesting furniture or books. Very quiet on the furniture side but I came out with 22 books but apparently I didn't spend enough attention as I had two copies of one book, different editions though, and a book I also bought last time but left it for my father to read. Some sort of list of books I have/have bought lately might come handy at some point even though the 42€ price tag wasn't a huge burden. Somehow buying books seems cool again.

60 lbs of rice, 20 lbs of pasta, and 10 lbs of quinoa oh and 21 lbs of books lol.

A few days ago eBay emailed me to say that because I hadn't logged into my account in x number of years, they'd remove it unless I logged in at some point in the next several days.

So I did, and on a whim decided to see if any of my favorite cat artists were still around. One was (very talented lady from Quebec), so I bought a couple of ACEO cards of cute tabby cats wearing toques.

Apple Airpod Pros (2nd Gen) for my wife for Christmas. I will pick them up later today and she will get to "try them out" right away.

Our smart TV is reaching its planned obsolescence time, as it’s starting to struggle running software and freezing more and more when scrolling quickly. We didn’t really feel like getting a full TV so I got us the newest Apple TV 4K model with 128gb hdd and Ethernet. It’ll be able to handle TV streaming apps for a decade and I can play all my iOS games on the TV easily now which is rad.

Trying to keep up with the human race and joined the Black Friday or rather Black Week these days by buying a monitor, few hard disks, HDMI splitter matrix & few other things on my to-buy-at-some-convenient-time list. As much as I like getting new stuff I'm not too keen on browsing endlessly for few Euros savings and there's no way anyone can drag me into a mall before February hence I placed my orders in only two shops. Still a hundred short of 1k€ (aka a consumption unit) so perhaps I need to revitalize myself and buy something to qualify for a proper consumer person for a year more.
One of the shops being Amazon but apparently there're some more or less strict rules about transporting batteries etc and since (almost) everything comes via Vilnius most battery operated stuff and/or extra batteries available in Germany will not be shipped here hence I need a local supplier, too. All things being equal I'd prefer local but I also do like to get stuff 30% cheaper. These days I'm also far more willing to pay for transportation to home or to some other convenient drop off place than few years back.

I did my Christmas shopping on Etsy... my housekeeping helper and I exchange gifts for Christmas. She gets me a penguin-themed item and sometimes something for Maddy, and I get her an owl-themed item.

But this time I found a really adorable Yorkie in a steampunk theme. She has two Yorkies, so I think she'll like this.

And then I noticed that the UK seller who has penguin paper dolls is once again shipping to Canada...

Got this 6000W solar kit for my house. Living in southern Spain it will theoretically fullfil my energy needs even using AC in summer, in fact it is a bit too much right now but eventually I will buy an electric car and maybe a desalination plant to get water from my well which in the last 20 years has become increasingly salty. Anyway there is always the possibility of adding more panels and batteries in the future. Could go completely off grid adding a gasoline generator but that is not cool, perhaps an aero-generator as wind is always blowing here.

Initial investment is fairly high, but having in mind regional government subsidies up to the 40% of the equipment plus some tax cuts I would say it will be amortized in 3-4 years.

Despite a history of not liking earbuds, I decided to try the Pixel Buds A series while they were on sale. I don't *like* them, but the ease of use with Google Assistant is keeping me from disliking them. They'll work when I need buds (when I'm traveling and don't want to carry my overhead Sonys) for podcasts and music, I think.

Vacuum cleaner.

I'm taking a chance with an online purchase. I could slap Amazon, since the first one I picked had a price increase while it was in my cart and I paused the checkout to ask their Customer Service people a question.

Since I didn't want it bad enough to pay an extra $65, I had to start over and pick a different one.

I also bought some earbuds. Fancy TWS Earfun Air Pro 2s for $50. Actually sound pretty damn good and the noise cancelling is quite nice. Ambient boost lets me hear and talk to people like I wasn't listening to music. Really neat.
