Hi

This my first post here. I have warlords,so should I get BTS now or wait for more fixes.

I would wait for more fixes. All the movies stutters and/or drop you out of the game (you can turn off the movies for that though) . If you click on anything in the Encyclopedia there's a good chance of being dropped out of the game. In the combats, dudes fall and get back up -- you don't know if you winning or losing. One time I clearly whooped 'em graphically but they actually whooped me. That's in the NextWar mod.

In the Final Frontier game I haven't have any problems.

Those are only the two mods I have played.

I think you should: just get BtS!! Fixes are on their way, and I am enjoying the game very well anyway. Basically, if you like Civ4, BtS will not (or should not) disappoint you.

I've never heard the Civilopedia being called an encyclopedia before . Yes, there are bugs with it currently, but it is easy enough to avoid it crashing - always use the main contents links, not the links from within each article. And as for the combat, just turn off combat for now if it annoys you. It will be fixed in due time, I heard someone "three weeks" not too long ago.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and welcome to CFC!! :band: :D

Welcome to CivFanatics. :)

I'm playing BtS on and off since I got it. There are some bugs that definitely should be fixed, but the game is very, very enjoyable already. It's not like one of those releases that you can't even play without a patch.

The engine runs very solid (at least on my machine), I haven't had a single crash yet. The game generally runs faster than before. Finally even the wonder movies run fluidly - not even Warlords could get that right for me, they always stuttered. The base game is at least as enjoyable as Warlords was, although you may have to adjust your difficulty level (and perhaps switch aggressive AI on if you're a conquest oriented player), and of course there's always something to improve. The scenarios look a bit less finished, but I found them very enjoyable nevertheless. Check the forum for comments about them (for example, Final Frontier has a game-breaking bug, but Jon Shafer has already released a fix, which should be floating around here).

Judging from the vast amount of fun I have, I'd recommend to get the game. :) One note though, don't install patch 3.03. Get 3.02 instead. 3.03 was built on a bad branch of the code, hence it introduced some crashes and misleading combat graphics.

The next patch is due out approximately the middle of September, so it depends on if you want to wait or not. Most of the gameplay bugs aren't that annoying if you don't play on marathon speed. Once in a while you might run into a game killing bug that will kill your game in progress but it's pretty rare.

If you do get BtS, remember to install the 3.02 patch instead of the 3.03 patch as it's less buggy.

Welcome to the forums for a start. It depends how long you've been playing. If not long, then you have plenty to learn with WL in terms of gameplay that will set you up well for BTS. If you're a veteran then I'd just buy it. The only really big bug is the cost of inflation link to corporatons, and , poorly scaled espionage costs for marathon speed. If you dont mind that, the game is fine.

Buy it. I have it, no patches installed, works perfectly fine and is simply a blast. Obviously waiting for the upcoming patch for the tweaks it will bring, but definitely worth the money. It's really good value in my opinion, and if you're a civ fan, well, you HAVE to have without the shadow of a doubt.
