Should I Buy CIV V if my laptop lags on demo or should I wait till I get desktop?

Should I wait to get desktop or buy on laptop now even though I lag on medium settings? I mean I would impulse buy for like 20 or 30$ just to have it but not to be able to play it in its fullest would be a waste of 50$. Also the community seems to be split on the quality of the game and since me and my friend are big believers in hotseat and PBEM, maybe waiting for the next expansion or patch is a good idea. Suggestions?

My compute plays on the lowest setting and it's not too bad. The leaders are frozen pictures and the fog of war is just black like it was in CivIV, but the game is still fun. I say get it now because even if you don't like it you don't have to pay 50 dollars for it in the future.

If its going to lag I recommend waiting until you get a desktop, then it will also be better-patched, solves both problems!

I concur with Prince Scamp.

Wait until your computer can handle it smoothly and for some patches to fix some bugs and get some balance to the game.

Never buy this hunk of crap game,,,! its utter crap! its a stripped down civs, even basic things like, no sound when you declaire war, no roaming animals, placeholder gfx for the map,,, its just a pile of junk.
