Okay, someday I'll make a decision and stick with it (NOT ) I've said I was going to skip GOTM#3 because the games take too long, but I'm realizing this one should be shorter. I'm appealing to the wisdom of those who've played more games at Emperor and this size map, and bloodlust. Will this game be *significantly* shorter to play in real time hours than last months? I"m really pumped after finishing GOTM#2, and the next logical step would be a game on Emperor, so I am reconsidering whether to play or not to play?

TIA, Leowind

DEFINITELY give it a whril, Leowind. After playing large maps for so long, I had forgotten how quickly regular map games move along. And judging by your latest victory, I think that this emperor game is one that you should be able to handle quite well.

What's the worst that can happen? Other than having to kill some Zulus?

I think that you'll find you can handle this level pretty consistently.

I say you should definitely give GOTM3 a try. GOTM1 was my first Emperor game and I finished it in 10 days. (albiet staying up much too late for most of that time.) It sounds like a month is reasonable for this one.

And look at it this way... If you don't finish by the end of the month, just finish it another day and you're no worse off than if you hadn't played at all. At least that way, you can read some of the stories and have a point of reference to learn something since you will have played at least part of the same game.

Yes you should play.

'course I would give that answer regardless of the situation/circumstances

I blew it off in just over 5 hours total. The more you play, the more automatic the decision process becomes. This makes the game go much quicker.
I never play for score and I don't have units all over the place until it is time.I used Marco's to get some maps and then off to the races.

Before the war began, the only active units I had were a couple of explorers(I'm really starting to like these guys),their ships and settlers making roads.
That made each turn:
Move about 6-10 units.Check cities.Check embassys.Press enter.Maybe 5 mins for this on average.Tops.

And I have been called slow in MP games.

Well here's a compromise... Try playing it for three hours and see where you get to. Either 1 session of three hours or 3 of one or whatever.) If at the end of that time you're not convinced you can do it in a reasonable time, then stop, and you won't have lost much time. Otherwise commit to finishing it and enjoy bashing the second civ which will almost definitely be the Zulus.

And don't forget the hint. It'll save you a few turns.
