Yes - After we have upgraded the immortals we plan on and ensuring we keep enough income to upgrade the warriors coming out of Shailonegha.
Yes - As soon as the Babylons get realistic in their peace demands. Some money from the treasury is okay but don't use per turn income.
Yes - As soon as they give a Peace for Peace deal.

This is a repoll to find the plurality of support regarding our war status with Babylon. The original poll showed negligible support for paying Babylon for peace but the entire Great War with the Dominos was started between that poll and this. Recent comments in the Foreign Affairs thread have promted this repoll:

would it make sense to make peace with babylon to destroy their reputation with the other civs?
i believe the others will then come to the peace table very easy since bab broke the pact. and we could deny peace for america to capture their cities (and we could concentrate on this one without having to split our forces!)

I completely support this idea once we have upgrade all the warriors we intend to upgrade. At this point, I believe we should be willing to spend all of our cash on hand to get peace with the Babylonians. We are making around 25 gold/turn currently, so our treasury will recover pretty quickly, and, like disorganizer said, this would probably make peace treaties with the other civs easier and cheaper.

We only need money right now to upgrade warriors, buy tech and make peace. Assuming we get the Great Library and have upgraded all of our warriors, we have only peace to invest in.

I like that word you used Shaitan. 'Plurality'. Not 'most, not 'majority'.:goodjob:

I think we should hear (right hear in this thread) whether our military department thinks we need to get peace from the Babylonians.

Well, just how many do 'we' intend to upgrade?

It is my understanding that we will upgrade all of them, though we will still be building them in Shailenogha. Our current gold/turn will allow us to upgrade those as quickly as they get to an upgrade point. This is, however, up to the military department, as I have pretty much given them control of the treasury for this purpose.

I voted to go for peace, even at the cost of our treasury, after our current immortals have been upgraded, for the reasons outlined. The opportunity to break up their current alliances to me is worth the gold, that we cannot do much with now anyway. As has been said, it's primary purpose is to upgrade Immortals, then buy tech, and we cant buy tech from half these countries anyway since we are at war. In my experience, the AI usually will set prices based on current treasury, so upgrade what we have, then negotiate.

I voted for the middling option. No point in carrying out a war against someone we won't be able to touch for a long time.

Once the Babs came to their senses (obsolete UU), I'm sure they'll be more than happy to negotiate a peace treaty. Make them pay us, if possible.

Ever notice that the AI usually attk you when they get their UU, for no apparent reason?

I say we should stay in a STATE of war, but not take any agressive action against them. We can take out smaller and more proximate nations, they are easier to "annex". Once we get them, If Babylon hasn't given up, we should try to take one or two of their cities, and see if they are willing for peace.

Other nations can feel the force of the garrisons of Phoenicia! :mwaha:
