Should we patch to 1.74?

I have investigated and found that it is possible to upgrade to 1.74, even with the lock modified assets flag turned on. Without getting into details of how the conversion would be done, I do think it's important now to talk some more about whether we should patch.


I think we should go ahead with patching. It seems wrong to put our DPs, Officials, and ordinary Citizens through the pain of a dual install if they want to play BTS or need the patch for another reason. I think the only reason we should avoid patching would be if a large percentage were unable to patch for a different reason.

My opinion only counts as one. I'd like to hear your current thoughts on this.

I am for a patch, as I got BTS. No way I will do a dual install for a demogame.

BTS and conversion problems was another reason I did not sign up for DP. When I saw we only got 4 DP players, I thought about volunteering for DP, but did not, due to the BTS problem. Right now, I need to ask questions on cities, units and so on, due to the fact I cannot open the save.

Definitely a good idea to patch, I don't have BTS but I can of course download that patch through the normal means, if this can be done it makes a lot of sense for our game to use the most up to date patch available.

I finally got BtS and I intend to patch Vanilla to 1.74 when I get home.

That's fine; in the moment it's horror, to play pbems, in a half of time you/i open the wrong version.
