Hey dudes i just picked Jesuit education as my reformation belief when playing as Siam. Turns out i can faith buy universities even if have they siamese unique Wat in the city. Is this a bug or not?

Sounds like it, I actually notice in the civilopedia recently that if you look at the Wat, it doesn't say how much faith it costs, but universities do. Did you notice if the bonus stacked?

Yes they do indeed stack. You get all the specialist slots to.

They stack, but you only get the 17% increase from Rationalism once. The most powerful science city modifier you can get is 50% University + 33% Wat + 50% NC + 50% Observatory + 50% RL = 233%.

A very interesting strat is to delay Tradition and use the 4 free culture buildings for Wat. Top that with Jesuit Education, you can pump out some sick science mid game.

I think it's fair to say that this is a bug, definitely not intended. Most likely lazy programming or forgetting about that ONE science building replacement.

Lets not call such a thing lazy programming, it's an error certainly, but I'm sure it just slipped through by accident as your second option suggested =)

Nice find @op, you should most likely toss it into the bug sub-forum =)

Have you seen how Natural Wonders act? There is a TON of lazy programming, i.e. ALL natural wonders are mountains, all grant observatory but somehow don't allow you to build Machu Pichu or New-shyweewoa-stein castle. (I can never remember how to spell it so why try.). They didn't even TRY to make Lake Victoria an actual lake, or King Solomon's mine a mine.

You mean Neuschwanstein? It's not THAT hard to spell correctly. I, personally, have more problems spelling "Nietzsche". I can never remember where to put that "z" for some reason...

Also, it would indeed be cool if they were more thorough with the Natural Wonders. Lake Victoria would be extra awesome for the Aztecs if it actually counted as a lake, for example. :p

Hmm, this leads me to wonder if the +17% in SP bonus - does it apply to the Wat, or did they forget?

I haven't played Siam since BNW
