people have the right to, and often times do complain (but not flame of course).
I agree, greenpeace.
Grammar and spelling police is indeed annoying. But what's more annoying is that I, as someone who doens't speak English as his native language, try my very best to write English correctly, while people who have English as their native language produce those unreadable sentences, on purpose.
Besides, I find it very hard to understand that "gang talk".

Just my 2 cents

That was fun, looking at the merged threads

I really hate it when people critise the grammer and speeling of others, especially considering that there are many people who English is no their native tongue.

If I came by as a grammar police I'm sorry, I didn't mean it. I just wanted to let him know that we generally tend to spell fairly well (as in we don't use leet or whatever its called).

That was sneaky, classical hero. I must be becoming immune, because I didn't even realize that I was reading mispelled words until I hit 'not'.

better than me, i didnt even notice 'not' after you pointed it out for awhile :D

IMO, I don't really care if someone mis-spells words or uses incorrect grammar, afterall, this is an international forum and not everyone here (as has already been stated) has English as their native language.

What does bother me is when people use that internet language, or the totally screwed up spelling of words (text messaging style maybe). Mis-spell words or use incorrect grammar, but don't use garbage because you want to, at least in respect to others on this forum.

Odd, I thought this subject was covered in the Forum Rules.

It isn't, although the rules do specify that posts should be in English, and personally I don't consider text speak, infantile deliberate misspellings, or inexplicable use of figures instead of letters, to be English.

It is against the rules to go around correcting people, much as it would do certain people a power of good to have it done to them.

On the other hand, it is indeed both rude and self-indulgent to post in text-speak. I'd say it's the equivalent of bumping old threads for no good purpose - not against the rules, but anti-social.

Ridiculing anyone for anything is against the rules!

Pointing out someone's typos isn't acceptable, just as it's not acceptable to correct the grammar of someone who doesn't speak English as their first language. Asking someone (nicely) not to use deliberately perverse spelling is OK, I'd say, in the same way that asking someone not to bump old threads is also OK.
