1.) I was wondering what is the best victory option for a complete beginner? I was thinking of going for conquest victory.

2.) I know citizens are needed to "work" cottages but are they also needed for mines and farms?

3.) What are some of the best attacking units in the beginning of the game?

Space race or domination is probably easiest. Conquest is quite hard, you need to raze a lot of cities.

Working mines gives you a small (1/1000?) chance to discover a resource you already know about.

Axemen, then catapults and swords.

1.)If you are above noble, then it will probably end in a space or time victory. Don't let that stop you from conquest though.

2.)Yes, If citizens aren't working tiles, then they improvement doesn't improve anything

3.)All of them except archers or warriors are good. It depends or where the strategic resources are. Swords are the best bet at your level.

yes you need citizen to work any kind of title. Size 1 gives 1 title size 2 gives 2 titles etc. Axemen are the best attack unit period for the lower levels i assume your talking about. Space or domination is probably easiest though time might be ok too. I supose space is actually easier than domination since you have to war alot to get domination.

So if my city has a population of 4 that means I can have 4 tiles of mines/cottages/farms???
