There isn't a problem if you want to stay in China. Spain has been bugging me about Hainan since the start of the NES. You're not the reason Spain is going after Hainan, this was all planned well ahead of time. You just happened to pick the worst option in China. Feel free to keep the Guangxi, I guarantee you will get a challenge. Alternatively, you could take the Qing and fight me.

OOC: It's a WIP, and it sounds like a steaming pile, but here's what I have so far for some cultural development for Sìchuān.

Notice the abrupt cut-off. I'm thinking of adding the opening motif in a couple of more times. The A-C-D-E-D-C-D-E-High A-E-D-C one. And I must say it was fun writing music with a Asian style with western instruments. That there's true cultural fusion.

I like it very much! Probably the first time anyone has submitted music, instead of a story or something. Definitely refreshing though. I'll use it as the Warlord theme in that part of the update, if you don't mind.

Of course! But I'd like to get a more complete sounding version up in time for the update.

'Sup, world. I'm looking to step in and play a bit, familiarize myself with NESes. Not sure who to step in as, maybe as Indochina with sudden designs on expansion (within the frameork of a protectorate - don't worry, Japan!) or some Greek or Chinese faction.

But more critically, I don't know the rules, really at all, and there is so much material to cover. Does anyone know where to find the rules?

EDIT: They've been helpfully pointed out to me. Only one question left: What the blazes is a warker carrier?

Read through the first posts on page 1.
Choose a country and begin to think about how you might spend your nation's EP in the next turn. Ask questions and take the plunge. If your country is near some hot bed of conflict consider some diplomacy to keep you at peace for a few turns until you get the hang of things.

    :)

"Warkers" are tanks, so maybe a "warker carrier" is a treaded troop carrier?

Ah, that makes sense. I had crazed visions of some huge-ass land battleship that carries warkers. Which was immediately followed up by, "I wonder if I can afford one."

TLK, my random number generator tells me I'm joining as Viktor Azarov, President of Crimea. Would you PM me any details I need to start?

Hey, welcome talonschild, I'm happy to have you! Give me a little bit, and I'll PM you with the relevant details in regards to what you need to know about Crimea. From there, you're free to send orders in this update, or wait until the next one.

We, the People of Crimea, hereby swear to uphold our independence at all costs. We affirm our friendship with the Second Spanish Empire, and openly reject the socialist aims of the Soviet Republic of Russia. Come what may, Crimea and the Crimean People will survive. This is our manifesto.

Just a reminder, I'd like orders sometime tomorrow. I'm still missing a significant amount.

Also, the Montreal Expo submissions can be turned in up until when I actually post the update. So far, we have a grand total of one. :p

The Brazillian contingent to the Montreal Exposé will consist of leading scientists who will lead discussions and give presentations on the benefits of hydro-electric power and how Brazil's massive river basins could benefit the entire globe [/ask for investors.]. Land developpers and biologists will give talks on the deforestation efforts currently going on and the benefits and downsides therein.

    Culture and Religion

Entire acts and parades from the Carnaval do Brasil, the twelve-day long festival common six weeks before Lent begins, will be shipped to Montreal to entertain the masses and educate about Brazilian cultural traditions. Such famous acts as the Rio Samba de las Meurtos, a Salsa-Samba band hugely popular in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro and the east coast.

A samba parade marching through the city of Rio de Janeiro. It is of great note and fascinating to outsiders that the entire country of Brazil stops functioning save for restaurants and transit systems for almost an entire week, the celebration of life is so intense. Drunken brawls are rare but massive when they do occur and tourism skyrockets 260% of the norm during Carnaval.

Brazil encourages all civilized nations to send entourages.

Georgy Ibatov, the sole Crimean at the Expo and probably in the whole of Quebec, sat down nervously. The Crimean People's Party government had sent him with an official government film, that much he knew. The content of the film - or indeed, where the government had managed to procure a film camera - he did not know. The film was threaded into the projector, and now there was nothing left to do but wait. He looked to the sky (or, rather, the ceiling) as if for a sign. None came.

The lights were dimmed, the curtains closed. The projector flared to life. On screen was - a big hole. Three men, smiling absurdly, stood at the lip of the hole, bare-chested and holding pickaxes. The screen went black, with the words "Crimea Mining Coal." Georgy winced - his English was only a little bit better, but even he knew that was wrong. There were a few patronizing chuckles throughout the room. Then the view changed, to a much larger hole. Several dozen men were bent over with pickaxes, pounding away at the ground below. A steady stream of men lugged carts of black rocks up a ramp to the top of the quarry. The camera panned, following the line - and then fell to the ground, and everything went dark. The room filled with general laughter.

    Georgy sighed.
