As I have been doing for the past couple days, I'm going to be working on orders intermittently today along with other homework, having them completed tonight. Apologies for the inevitable lateness, but I want quality over quickness.

My orders will also be late, for which I apologize. Their mostly done, but I've got to run out for now. I'm also waiting for a reply from one player which is important to finishing them up.

D'oh! Orders being sent right now, sorry for being *slightly* late with them.

Excellent essay-type thing TLK. I wasn't around for the last NES, so stuff like the La Plats dominion came out of the blue for me. Cheers for that.

I have to write an essay final today, but the lack of orders should give me some time to write some more short essays, to explain other important points. Hopefully. Glad it could help you out. As I said, I can write all about any subject that people want, if it helps create a more IC world.

Also, (as I said before) should anyone wish to send me articles for Time Magazine, I can probably include them in the update.

    Welcome Blaze. :)

In which case, could I get a breakdown of how the Chinese Republic came about, and what's happened to the figures from OTL? I've been avoiding addressing the KMT directly, so it'd be nice to have clarified where they are.

I'll write up on that when I get a chance. I'll be working for the rest of tonight, and won't be around much at all tomorrow, so I'm still accepting orders.

In the meantime, I have been working on this:

    Spoiler :

I can't tell if it's terrible, or I love it. Whatever the case may be, I have avoided putting in any player flags that haven't already been posted, and a lot of NPCs still need flags. So I'm inviting all of you to either make a flag, or post some possible flags for NPCs. Whether it be just a generic flag, or some older more historical flags, go ahead and post it, and perhaps we will be able to fill this whole thing out?

I'm also at a loss for what to do in regards to colonies; should I just use the owners flag as well, or (dare I hope) wait for colonial flags?

It is a silly project of course, so don't feel obligated to help out.

First of all- nice work. Just don't use it as the official map.

As for the colonies, well, I guess colonial flags would be fine. We already know who it belongs to, anyway. Although you should note that some colonies (like my Dutch East Indies) may not have a distinct colonial flag.

Edit: By the way, do the Americans own the entire Lesser Antilles?

    I like that map.

Also, my flag is that of Australia, so it should not be difficult to add.

Japan has the standard flag that we have always had.

Many people mistake the Rising Sun Flag as Japan's national flag for this period, but it's only the military flag.

    Flag of Japan:

    Standard of the Emperor:

Flag of the Imperial Japanese Army:

Naval Ensign of the Imperial Japanese Navy:

Haha, I would have loved to be a fly on the wall while they were deciding on the design for the second one.

"All right, guys, work with me on this one, I know it's late and we all want to turn in for the day, so here's my plan. This is what the Naval flag's going to look like. It's going to look like the army flag...slightly to the left."
    *silence*
"**** it, sounds great to me, you get on that." *leaves room*

Though I have no historical knowledge on the subject, my assumption is that the naval ensign was based on geography. Japan is on the "left" side of the Pacific Ocean.

I am debating whether or not to post a flag given that a modified version is likely to come in next turn.

I did some cursory Wikipedia searches and couldn't find anything concrete. It's a plausible answer, I suppose, but I can't imagine why that way of thinking appealed to the navy so.

    I laughed.
