hey i think the argument is already done... cause i see that everybody has got a lot of detailed info -and all many of them totally correct- about Turks... i mean if there is an impact of Turks at that scale, and if this nation makes the people curious about its history, it means something is already done... i m a turk and i m disappointed about that... i dunno if there is any subjectivity of Firaxis or not... moreover, our greek friend is some kinda kiddin maybe... or just underestimating turks...

turks should be there over some other civs , they are worthy of a civ placement.

In my List why not in no order but alphabetical

America
British
China
Dutch
Egypt
French
Germany
Greece
India
Persia
Roman
Russia
Spain
Turkey
10th Centuary Middle eastern

I think that the original civ list from civ II should've been retained. But, I guess this way still works and works well. Either way, I LOVE CIV III!!!!!

You include the Dutch and "10th Century Middle Eastern" but not Portugal or the Incas?

How can you include the Dutch? I'm part Dutch meself, but you should replace them with a REAL civ. Incas would be good. Or perhaps Japan. Or even...

How dare you betray your fellow Dutchmen with such slander? :D. I'm mostly Dutch too, but you shouldn't call the Dutch a 'Non-Real Civ'. They made the English compete for it's colonies, which resulted in the creation of America, India, and many other now-country British colonies.

Then again, I suppose that civilizations like the Turks, Spanish, and Mongols should take precedence...but, I don't know about the Incas. They're kinda in-between and a tough call.
