Skipping the opening cutscene

Why can't I skip the opening cutscene when starting the game? Alt tabbing out seems to work but why can't hitting a mouse button or pressing esc do it?

Try this:

Go to "My Documents\My Games\Sid Meiers Civilization 5\" and open usersettings.ini in Notepad. About 15 lines down you will find "SkipIntroVideo = 0". Make this value 1 (to skip the intro movie).

Game should go directly to the menu.
