Hey everyone. I was just playing a game with this awesome mod, and was merrily escorting a settler with a slinger. I saw a barbarian but that wasn't a problem - the tile I wanted to settle was only a square away.

But to my horror when the barbarian attacked, my slinger retreated and left the settler! It was captured, and I knew I didn't have the manpower to immediately launch a rescue. The natural wonder I so coveted would likely go to my competitor.

I normally use archers to escort settlers because they're what I have on hand - do others do so as well? It seems like the slinger UU is an actual nerf, especially since the player starts with one. Quickly going liberty and immediately expanding is hindered for Inca players, who IMO benefit from REX.

What are your guys' thoughts on this? :)

Slingers retreat (a normal feature fo them), I don't know why you chose an Arched unit of a Warrior, warrior are more likely to live to see another day than arhed units.

I usually send the archer to the proposed city site first to make sure no barbarians appear in the first place. Else, I use a warrior to escort and archers to garrison later (where it won't retreat). So this isn't a common problem.
