SMACx story - Where's the logic?

I haven't played SMACx, and I don't know the story. But I wonder, what is the story behind SMACx? And how is it related to the one in SMAC?

And those new factions. How did they get there??? Do they have anything to do with the books?

In SMACx, the new human factions originated from fringe elements within the original seven. The two alien factions are of the same race locked in a civl war. The aliens return to Chiron, which they originally were from, to try and ... I forget. Maybe to get old secrets locked away by time.

No, the new factions do not have anything to do with the books; however, you'll get an idea why they develop.

I highly recommend SMACx!

Try eBay.

Of course, you could always buy a mac.

The SMAC/X series is still available through Aspyr (publisher) and retailers.
