well , my blazingly spectacular achievement this year was in some modelling forum . The guy ...

just look at the sorry state of the forum . As am writing this there are five "similar threads" mentioned . Mass killings in the US , Charlie Kirk incident , taking Trump down in the next elections , failure of US Foreign policy and our AI lords throw a bone in the form a Civ7 thread at the bottom .

well , the guy is one of those who took over parcels of the internet to sell the F-35 . Driving everybody out for the sin of having a speck of doubt about the greatest ever thing . Lovely thing , its engine costs 20 millions these days . Which is not the cost of a full up F-16 , but hey , whatever ...

Spoiler :

gets offended by my comment about Germans buying F-18s for the extremely political mission of having access to the use of American nuclear bombs . Apparently they cleared the F-35 to drop nukes like in 2024 , being fast workers or something . All my posts there are now under moderator control , remain under wraps until approved , so ı am not posting . Yeah , because they have noticed ı post in a second forum , they have banned me access to a "genre" so that ı won't be able to read what they are upto ! Presumably over this Typhoon sale to New Turkey , which helped to UK have a record in annual weapon sales ...

like ı really would like to return the favour by suggesting them to find the relevant magazine article where some former engineer writes about stuff . Only evidence for Roy Braybrook being a great designer was his own claims but his columns were always informative in addition to self mockery . In which he doesn't really argue tradecraft with Lee Begin , despite the odd thing about the Northrop's chief engineer talking as if he was on a spaceship and that trick would be taken over later by Ben Rich , naturally from Lockmart . It is more like he is explaining himself to Sir Sydney , like Camm's ghost who was the chief of Hawker design offices . Because , oddly , he will abandon previously held opinons and stuff . Like he talks BS about being convinced by Begin about the way engines are changed on the F-18 , as if he is unaware the same way was accepted for the Tornado which was in flight tests in the timeframe . This is his plot to reject the thing that would be offered by the MBB , because the Tornado tailfins were to be produced by BAC and "experience" was a firm selling point back then , too . Anybody who hate me for stating all the Eurocanards originate from Swedish paper exercises ? Luckily you will not be able to shame Roy Braybrook as he has been dead for a couple of years .

Returned to my hometown and repossessed my house (some non-paying 'renters' squatting on it). Got contractors to repaint, repair and/or replace various spoilage to make it liveable again. Got a new pc and ordered much furniture fr Ikea (need to self-assemble). Still need to buy the electrical stuff. And connect to the internet (currently using a phone lol). Settling down into my retirement. :)

Yeah, nothing interesting much...

New pc to run Windows 11; level 100 in POE1; Visited Italy and Hawaii this year, Walked over 1.016 million steps according to my phone app (goal is 4,000 steps every other day).

I honestly don't know where to start since it's largely been a huge rumination period filled with regret since leaving the anti-woke movement and only just now starting to process the grief surrounding ambiguous loss of a "friend" to left wing extremism a few years back.

I managed to make and publish a civ mod for Civ5*, the reason I joined CivFanatics in the first place

*six civs now, at time of going to print

Got married in January. Had a small wedding almost a year later in December. Wife is four months pregnant!

A whole lot of adulting ( :ack: ) including navigating an immigration process without a lawyer, including the mega stress of this admin coming after people who fit my wife's description to a tee (down to the country/ visa process). Also adulting, making sure there's cakes, balloons, cards, etc for everyone's birthdays, festivity in holidays... there's usually 1-2 people in everyone's family organized enough to do it for everyone else, it dawned on me that it is me in mine.

Wife and I bought a house! With cash! No, not really, not like it sounds, it was $3,200. Just a gift to fix property lines for her family in Nicaragua. Still fun to say. And there is a house there. Two rooms that don't sensibly combine. The toilet is in the doorway between the rooms... it's... I'll post pictures later.

I had my credit cards paid off for about 2 days this year. Woo!

Was able to unite two friend branches into one, taking the pressure off me to keep my friends in one place -> that's almost the most important thing on here  . Got back up to full time work in my field, first time since 2022. Got way better at my job. Simultaneously, leveled up my music game significantly... now that I don't have time for it ( :ack: ) . Finished a major music project from 2014 that I will release early next year. Got comfortable filming myself. Threw a great cabin party. Finished loads of TV series's. Saw my favorite artist in concert. Got even better medicated. Got fat.

Haven't smoked any pot in over a year, not really by desire but by compromises, and I gotta say while it's definitely a downgrade in many regards going from occasional to zero usage, it's been way easier to stack wins and keep forward like a slow moving, no red-lights-in-the-way train.

2026 is going to be real crazy. Newborn, lots of debt to overcome, projects to finish, and I'll be the sole income.

I served an obscene (and self destroying) system for one more year.
I really should look for more fecund activities :o

Went to the gym more than any other year, other than when I played sports in school. But yeah most gym time in like 17ish years.

Got a second used vehicle so we don’t have just one.

Beat sooooooo many video games. Got a Switch 2. Swapped my Macbook Pro for a better one. Did two full Linux from Scratch installs, it had been a while since I last did. Got a new computer desk and completely redid that area of the living room. Tracked down a working BBC Micro Model B, a working Macintosh 512ke, and a working Amiga 2500.

Read a lot. Blew past my book goal for the year.

Went to Chicago 7 times!

99% of my investments are mutual funds, but 1% is my “fun” collection of personal picks. They outperformed the S&P 500 for the year.

Called my state politicians more than any other year, went to more protests than any other year, gave more to charity than any other year.

Getting settled in my new job.

My boy is really starting to become opinionated and he most certainly got it from me.

The yearlong renovations to my flat were completed; it's so nice to no longer be invaded by builders in your own home.

Home theater got a 4K HDR upgrade and I'm slowly but surely double dipping my favorite films.

My savings/stock portfolio is starting to show teeth. I am entertaining the thought of becoming a part time investor in the long run and perhaps retire early from 'normal work life'.

I really wanted to improve on some personal issues I still struggle with, but that has been largely unsuccessful in 2025. I still have a lot of work to do and decisions to make.

Anno 2025 wasn't a great year.
I was to a big extent sick with minor stuff, certainly amounting again to 3 months or more. Including over Christmas, I could not visit home. I didn't make any progress with sports, due to all the time being knocked out minorly, and didn't do the 10k or 16k run last year, so that's all a bit meh.
I went to Spain and Turkey, both for weddings of friends. It was the first time for me in Turkey, which was great. I drove a car there, and survived. While arriving back at my home airport I lost my documents, which was a big of a mess for 2 months to get everything sorted again.
I also went to Switzerland for work, which was interesting, I was part of the organization for a workshop, and I think I'm at work now widely recognized as an expert. I was also invited to give a lecture for a master's course. So that part is pretty good.
Other random things 2025:
- I went the first time ice skating. Well, tried, "skating" might be an exaggeration
- I met the prime minister. Not really... kinda. He was "undercover" at a concert, and me and a friend afterwards sat down at the same table with him. Didn't recognize him at first .

And here we had Civ7 and 25 years of CFC, so that's also neat :).

I just hope for better health for 2026, that's the main thing. And maye some love.
