Software Emulation of Graphics on Conquests?

Is it possible to force Conquests to use software emulation of the graphics? Conquests lags a lot when played on Windows 7. I think there's a chance that it is caused by hardware emulation so I'd like to try using software emulation if possible.

Anyone know how to force software emulation? Or does anyone know how to fix my root problem?

I am running Conquests under Windows 7, and only notice a lag problem with I have a lot of civilizations and barbarians on the map.
