Soldiers charged in Iraq rape-murder case

[ironical mood]That makes sense. [??]

Then they will probably beheaded for the crimes they committed, even if there isn't enough evidence that they committed those crimes.

But OK who cares. Nowadays it's also in the USA not important anymore that one needs to be guilty before being sentenced, isn't it ??[/ironical mood]

When was the last time Ameircan citizens in America were sentenced without evidence, or is that trolling?

I'm thinking about Guatanamo Bay.
The people who are kept there don't even get a trial.

Is that fair. IMHO it isn't.

So don't expect that American citizens will get a fair trial in Iraq.

If you do that (expecting a fair trial in another country), then you have double standards IMO.

Bright day
They are going to be tried by the US Army...

I'm aware of that.

So I guess they will not be sentenced in the USA because of so called lack of evidence.
Or if they will be found guilty they will get very light punishments (and I consider everything less than life without parole a very light sentence).

Sickening allegations.

If guilty, imprison them for life or "show them the ropes".

Not under america's laws. They are under military jurisdiction because they are soldiers.

The U.S. is not at war with the Iraqi government, and so, IMO, these soldiers should be tried by an Iraqi court under Iraqi laws.

I realize that this will never happen, but it should.

If a Canadian soldier committed a crime, in, say, Germany, I would argue that he should be tried in a German court according to German laws.

bumpity bump.

I would say we wait until the verdict before we pass judgement on these soldiers. Who knows, they could really have raped and killed that girl or it could be a very clever insurgent tactic aimed at playing on the unpopularity of the Iraq occupation aimed at driving the US out of Iraq faster.

No, it's not. It's denial to believe everything that's written, especially by a liberal biased news source.

I have no idea if it happened or not, so I'm not going to plain say "yes or no", however, I did not see it with my own eyes nor is it wise to rule out an insurgent tactic.

I don't believe that's the case.

I first heard about this story late last week. One source (which, unfortunately, I cannot remember so I cannot link) indicated that the allegations were made by another U.S. soldier (who may have been involved... I wish I could remember the source :( ).

Garric, please be more mature and don't spout off about libera biased news sources everychance you get, especially when I post it from a major media corporation. Here's Fox News for you:

These 5 soldiers are screwed.

I don't have much experience with the Army, but at least in the Marines, if they're actually bringing you to trial, it means they already have your balls in a little box under their desk.

Granted, we probably won't execute them. But there is a world of hurt coming their way.

Well that's why I said COULD because it may or may not be the case! It's pure conjecture that may or may not have some basis.

Good. This whole (disgusting, disturbing, and downright blech) affair has done more to the US than anybody has realized.

Why won't they let the Iraqis try them? With US supervision, of course.

If they did what they did, this is morally reprehensble.
