Hi guys, my name's Damian, first post here. I hope I don't break any rule. I'm a HOMM fan, I love turn-based strategy games. I've been taking a peek to Civilization for a while, I love retro games, so if I'm going to start playing Civilization, I want to start with the first one, so the learning curve towards the newer Civilization gets easier to follow. The problem is that it's being a pain to start, mainly I don't understand what some icons means (GUI), specially in the city section. I've been looking for some documentation but the official one doesn't explain this, just the mechanics. Do you have any source that you can share with me that can help me to understand the game in depth? Thank you very much in advance. Damian (IJ).
https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/pc/564621-sid-meiers-civilization/faqs/1846 and there is a book called "Civilization or Rome on 640K a Day" which is very detailed. But in order to play and understand the game you won't need it, I guess. And to me, the GUI seems to be self-explanatory. (I'm playing it since I'm six years old)
I'd suggest Civ2 if you're new. Civ2 is basically a perfected Civ1. Civ1 is great fun but the combat system is dated and feels "unfair" to new players.
