Michael J. Fox? I didn't know that. And thanks for keeping those Haida under control. Before you guys got there they'd always come down and raid the shoreline. Of course the native groups here would just go inland and not leave anything for the Haida to take.![]()
And I also didn't know there had been Canadian prime ministers from BC. I thought you people were smart enough to know to stay away from politics. It must be all that BC Budd...
Hey, cousin! Yeah, two in the last century held seats in B.C.. John Turner, Liberal, who lasted a few short months in 1984. Frankly, though, I can't remember whether Turner held his for just a few days during the transition, since his term was so short I think he'd merged the necessary by-election and general election.
The other one was Kim Campbell, Conservative, now the trade commissioner in California, who lasted all of a few short months in 1993.
But actually, your comment on politics isn't fair: BCers have really wierd and hyperactive politics. Things are relatively polarized (socialists are REALLY socialist, libertarians abound, and there is a hell of a bible belt in the Fraser Valley and the interior). BC is also famous for endless and hilarious political scandals. BCTV is the most watched local news in the country, because they are aggressive at putting the scandal of the day right up as the lead story. For example - and it goes well beyond this - every Premier in my living memory except Rita Johnston (who lasted all of a few months...) and the current incumbent God Campbell has been the centre of a corruption scandal of one sort or another, in or out of office. But they are never convicted

Oh and that reminds me, until the recent exchange mergers, we also had "the most corrupt stock exchange in the western world," nicknamed "the wild west" by financial types in Canada.
MJF is from Vancouver. In fact, most American entertainers are really Canadian. It's how we're going to take you over.
