Some minor issue and some nuclear combat veteran notes

One minor issue is that when you launch a tactical nuke from a nuclear sub, the game doesn't display other units you had on that square until you move one of them. For example, I had 3 destroyers, a battleship, and a nuclear sub with a tactical nuke on a square just off of Germany's coast, ready to nuke Berlin. When I launched the nuke, the ships and sub were no longer displayed, and the map turned to gray in that area. When I selected any of the ships in the stack to fire, it didn't show the animation, just the results. Finally when I moved one of the units the stack was displayed again like normal.

Another minor issue is that the foreign advisor tells you when someone has declared war on you because of your nuclear attack before the game shows the animation for the nuclear attack. This seems peculiar to me. The logical flow to me is you see the nuclear attack, then so-and-so declares war as a result.

This nuclear attack caused India to declare war on me. They responded with 3 sub launched tactical nuke strikes, and a few turns later, an ICBM strike. I was surprised that the ICBM didn't target my capital. I would think that if you have only one ICBM and are in the frame of mind to launch it, you would hit the other capital first. Anyway, the nukes seemed to be targeting mainly resources: my only source of uranium, a source of aluminum, and I don't remember what the other one was. The uranium site was hit twice by tactical nukes. These nuclear attacks by India caused Germany to declare war on them. I noticed in a map trade later that Calcutta had been nuked (thank you Bismark, hehe). I nuked an Indian invasion force, and that caused Egypt to declare war on me, but that didn't last long. Curiously, Montezuma, my southern neighbor, never declared war.

lol can we say Greenhouse Effect!!!

Wont somebody PLEASE think of the children! especially those poor souls stuck down the Uranium and Aluminium mines slaving away for 50p a week!

For you Nuke vets-
If you target a resources tile with a nuke, does it eliminate the resource? OR just the road etc so the loss is temporary? Thus: can you rebuild, or is the loss permanent? IS it lost until you decomtaminate the pollution with workers?

Permanent loss would greatly make use of the weapon a more important strategic move ...

Has anyone used nuc's on a naval target at sea? Presumably, a large stack, but whatever, any trys on this?

The nuke doesn't eliminate the resource, just the improvements.

I nuked two battleships escorting two transports in that game I mentioned above. When the smoke cleared, one half-damaged transport was left.

I'm a big fan of the Nuclear weapons dating back to Civ2 days!

So far I've only used nukes once in Civ3. It was a single attack against China, I was the Japanese. That one attack was enough to break their backs allowing me to take over their empire. Germany and France immediately declared war on me but I was the strongest power militarily and the only one at the time to build nukes. Then the game ended at 2050 with a histographical win for me.

Anyway can't wait till I try again.

:ar15: :rocket2:

Nuke 'em all until you can't nuke 'em anymore. Then nuke 'em some more!

Ah i am a super big fan of the nuke, nothing tells your enemies "I'm gonna blow the living **** out of your pathetic little country then storm it and raze your cities to the ground, and even though every other Civ left will declare war on me, i don't care cause i'm gonna kick your arse!" like a nuke.

Personal best 32 nukes all saved up and ready for some harsh justice on wrong-doings (real and imagined) by other Civs. One turn, 32 launches, 32 strategic strikes, total of 184 units/improvements destroyed and world temperature raised in biblical proportions, the world flew into stavation during the nuclear winter. I crushed my enemies with the fist of iron in velvet gloves of sin, and wallowed in their anguished cries. Overall score wasn't too good and it did get a bit boring but it certainly worked.

:o

Fond memories of Civ1 where my first contact with Babylon who had been marooned on a tiny island for thousands of years and were still in the Bronze Age was a nuke dropping on their capital.

Happy days....can't happen in CIV3 I guess but it still warms my heart.

OMG, can you imagine if nukes actually wiped out the resource. Enough nuking could make it impossible to build modern units, turning the armies of the world back into spearmen and archers.

I wonder if you can do that with a mod?
