The Mt. Rushmore wonder requires... Fascism?

"State Property" is considerably better than "Free Market" economy?

Curious....

He's busy arguing with George Clooney.

There are a number of obvious Wonders that could have been linked to Fascism (eg, the Autobahn, the Piazza Venezia), I think it's amusing they chose Mt. Rushmore.

State Property vs. Free Market: Not easy to jugde, IMHO.

I agree that State Property is a very powerful tool...but it is either limited to special situation (SU- or BE-like expansion) or it requires a lot of preplanning/a high amount of rebuilding infrastructure. You will not get much out of it, if your empire is small or if you don't rely heavily on watermills and workshops. And though you can always plant your tiles with workshops and switch to StPro then, it does not always make sense.Sometimes high industrial capacity is the way to victory, sometimes you need gold. Then cottages and not workshops will do the job.

Free Market is more flexible.Except for pure or nearly AW situations (but then Mercantilism is a good alternative!), you will get always something out of it.Cash is nearly always useful. The important thing is that you don't have to do much for it.Revolt and get the benefits.

Well I suppose we could just mod in the firaxis symbol for the new neo-Nazi flag... heck its only a game.

Will i boycott the game because they make a poor choice associating an american landmark with an evil regime? no...

I am curious WHY they would want to make that association though...

1) It's a giant carving of a nation's great leaders into a mountainface.

2) What is this evil regime of which you speak? CivIV civics are decoupled from any historical regimes - those are just instantiations, as it were, of "our game." America is just as capable as India is as capable as Germany is of running Police State.

3) You don't need to run Police State to build Mount Rushmore.

4) Given that both Washington's and FDR's preferred civics are Universal Suffrage, any ideological points - of the variety you are insinuating, anyway - are prima facie false.
