Some questions about the stealth planes

I have a few q's about these planes. First, what's the best defense against a stealth bomber? Are there any upgrades/improvements that can help defend against stealth attacks?

Second, what is the significance of the attack value for the stealth fighter? I assume the defense value is measured against the attack value of the plane intercepting it, right?

If you can figure out what the attack value is doing on the SF, you will win the Nobel Prize for Civ Mechanics. My understanding is that an air unit would have to be able to conduct air superiority missions to use its attack value.

Lots of mobile SAM's stacked together can present a substanital risk to Stealth aircraft. I've got some info on the air combat mechanics, but don't have time to post now . . .
