Some remarks on The Mongols & The Huns

If you still have the time or interest to run another test, could you try using the attached modmod? It’s a tweaked version of UPAI (adds new flavors for skirmishers and other missing unit lines), with Genghis’ skirmisher flavor set to 10 (can be set higher, but conventionally leader flavors don't exceed 10). If flavors can help with this, the modmod should show a noticeable increase in skirmishers.
....
I installed it now and will start a duell Attila vs Genghis soon. May the better Skirmisher team win!

Now we played our duel on a small map: No ancient ruins, start in classic era. No CityStates there (I don't know why). Many Barbarians everywhere. Plenty resources, but only 4x2 horses on the whole map.
The Huns started almost in a corner and I founded on a 2 horse spot. Research on Mathematics to build horse archers asap. Meanwhile we built Ekis.
Exploration did not take long and we found Mongolia's capital, and another horse resource close to the map's center.
We founded our second city almost at the same time.

Then everything developed very differently. We built 4 horse archers.
The Mongols built one or two horsemen but no skirmisher. Not a single one in the entire game!
We declared war and succesfully attacked and took their second city.
They asked for peace and we accepted.
Next turn they stole the horses with an ordo.

Some turns later we could place a counter citadel and regained the 2 horses, built 2 more horse archers and declared war asap.
Mongolia lost their capital and offered capitulation some turns later.

Result: I could not recognize any change by AI unit prod mod. Maybe because it is the UU of the Mongols?

The AI doesnt build that many skirmishers, as a human with either of those or egypt I'd build as many as I can up to atleast 10.
Only see a decent amount vs arabia where resourceless uu plays a big part.

Well, UUs should be built and used, any other choise seems wrong. I think I'll go back to start, swap player and watch how the huns do.

Well, I did it that way, but unfortunately I can't say anything better about the Huns than I can about the Mongols. They just don't do anything except occasionally declare war nonsensically with no chance of success. Perhaps I'm not a suitable test player because I simply can't resist when they practically give me the early worker. But that was more than 60 turns ago and they still don't have a new one! As a result, their horses are not connected and nothing has been improved at all. Instead, they now send a catapult against the barbarian invasion...
Speaking of barbarians: They are numerous and technologically up to date, but they just don't fight. Instead, they immediately jump into the nearest pond and let themselves be shot up by the skirmishers. At least they no longer conform to the cliché of the "unwashed". That could be seen as progress...

For now, I'm saying goodbye to Attila and Genghis Khan to test @balparmaks mod on some civilizations with other UUs. Hopefully, there will be better results to report.

From the last game, I still have a strange image of a Mongolian city that visually merges with a barbarian camp, but this is also described in the tooltip...
CityEncampment.png

That last image is weird but expected. The map won't update barbarian camp destruction (so you never know when a camp was destroyed by someone else).
Here, someone cleared the camp, then the mongols found their city on the same plot. You just never got vision on that specific tile after the cleaning. It will go away when you do get vision.
