As a french, I had a look at the french city list and some little things surprised me:

- the correct spelling of the city REIMS is REIMS, not RHEIMS (it's not the first time that I see this error in civ games)

- why did you put JARNAC in the game !!??? It's a little town near where I'm born, that has got almost 4000 inhabitants lol .It's known for cognac alccol production and the former dead president Mitterrand was burried here...I think the city of COGNAC is better worldwilde known :)

- the last city of the list has a crazy name that I've never heard (I don't remember, I'll edit this post when I go back from work)
ALBA LA ROMAINE (1402 inhabitants, seems to have be founded by the romans)

- Some major cities like NICE (1 004 826 inhabitants), Lille, Orléans, Strasbourg, Rennes,... are missing...(so why Jarnac...?)

I can't speak for the other issues, but "Reims" was at first spelled "Rheims" when it was founded. There are many instances where old spellings/names are used. Constantinople comes to mind....
