This issue may be the most visible in the latest instalment, but it's still something that has consistently been present throughout the entire series: attitude. More specifically, I don't like that the attitude the CPU players have against other factions is on a one-dimensional scale. Personally, I would replace the slider with a two-dimensional plane, with the x-axis representing impression and the y-axis representing intimidation. That is, how impressed and intimidated respectively, said faction is towards the player and other factions. It doesn't have to provide that much depth gameplay wise, though it would certainly add some well needed flavour into each game's internal geopolitics.

Related to this, I would like to see the diplomacy screen be implemented with proper dialogues trees, with each faction providing unique dialogue options (both in terms of playing as, and playing against). Again, could be there mostly for flavour, influencing very little beyond the behaviour of the CPU players
