Sorry if this has already been answered...but Mods for Macs?

Hi, welcome :wavey:

Downloading can be done now ... except you have to find them as download files as you can't browse the official distribution centre.

If the mod is a .civ5mod file it's really a 7z compressed file, so you will need to use EZ-7Z or equivalent to unzip it. Put the resulting folder into ~/Documents/Aspyr/Sid Meier's Civilization 5/MODS/

Building your own mods - not easy. You will probably never have the full kit of tools that are in the Windows "SDK". But you can edit XML and .lua files in any Mac text editor, and you can build a .modinfo file. So you can construct a mod folder as long as you only want to adjust the text components. Graphics mods are probably not an option, as there is no Mac support for the custom graphics format used in Civ5 as far as I am aware. Once the Windows world get their hands on the custom DLL facilities, we'll be out in the cold, just as we were for Civ4.

Does mean the mod is now active. For example I tried to set up info addict this way but I could not find the graphs the mod was supposed to add.

Sorry again for my ignorance, things seemed more streamlined in Civ4.

It works for me.

The InfoAddict mod is available as a zip file, so you just download it here and unzip it to create a folder called InfoAddict (v 10). Don't rename it. Place the folder in your MODS folder. If your Civ5 installation uses defaults, you put it in ~/Documents/Aspyr/Sid Meier's Civilization 5/MODS **.

Aspyr have chosed not to show you the Mods menu in the standard release, so you have to change one of the .lua files to enable the option. The FAQ points to this thread which gives details of which file to change.

You can then launch Civ5 and select Mods. Click Browse and enable InfoAddict. Start a game, and when you click the scroll below the turn number you can choose the InfoAddict screen. You can close the screen again using the esc key.

** If you have used the preferences hack discussed elsewhere in this forum to move the Civ5 user data into the ~/Library/, then your MODS folder will be at ~/Library/Application Support/Sid Meier's Civilization 5/MODS

infoaddict is a zip file, you end up with a folder full of stuff. Place the folder in the Documents>Aspyr>Side Meier's Civilization>MODS folder path.

Start the game, select MODS, then Accept (the legalese), then BROWSE MODS, make sure to highlight the green button next to Infoaddict, then click back, click Single Player and load/setup the game to your preferences.

Infoaddict will be seen as a choice at the bottom of the pull down list that includes the different 'Overviews' and the Notifications Log.

thanks AlanH. I needed help turning on the Mods menu. Everything works great now. It is really nice having those charts again.
