Sounds Problems

do you have two speakers or one (most time it's two) are both not working or only one?

If it's only one I would suspect a fault with the connection / cable - if you move the cables around does the sound come back (or do you hear any crackling noise?) - if so lilkely a loose connection or a break in the cable.

If no sound at all then it could be a fault with the sound system on the pc - check it isn;t turned down or muted (look in the mixer/volume control - often in the system tray. Other than that your sound drivers may be disabled or corrupted - try looking in control panel - device manager for sound/audio devices.(have you installed any software/drivers recently?)

O/s version and sound card type would help pin down the problem if it is not speaker related, good luck.

Try uninstalling your drivers and downloading the latest.

This may sound silly but it happened to me recently and after trying all this technical stuff i found that the sound had been muted!!!

There was no visual indication of this until i went into the sound program.

So check the silly things first!

Is the sound muted?

Sound is not muted. I downloaded the latest driver, but when I unzipped the file, this came up:

What operating system is this, w98?
It is easier to direct you, or try at least, if you provide some specifics on your system:

sound card & operating system being the two obvious here

Is your system able to auto detect hardware? If so, try uninstalling the drivers.
have you updated those drivers since you got the card? If so , try to roll back to an older driver (I know winXP has an option for this, as I recently had a graphics card issue)

1. Make sure your speakers aren't blown out.
2. Make sure your volume isn't muted.
3. Make sure your sound card has drivers installed, isn't having hardware conflicts, and/or isn't fried. You can always buy a new soundcard (or speakers for that matter) for 15 bucks.

4. This is unrelated, but you have waaay too many tasks running on your computer. If that was my operating system, I'd burn it.

Control panel --> System --> "Hardware" (for me it is called something differently) --- you should see a list of components - if there is a > ! < mark in that list, that is windows' way of saying something is wrong

Have you tried extracting the driver zip file with a different program, such as WinRAR?
Seems like there is a problem with the zip file of the driver.
Try downloading it again, better yet from a different source (if there is one).

Have you tried connecting different speakers - maybe even headphones, just to see that the problem is not wires related or speakers related?

Try to find the latest drivers at the manufacturer's web site.
