Hi, I'm new here and I have a question about launching the spaceship. I've built my spaceship and finished my last part on it. However, it wouldn't let me launch it or see my spaceship again after I finished that part. I thought I would be able to launch the spaceship and see something that said I won but it didn't happen. Has anybody else had this problem?

Pressing F10 is probably to obvious.

Also, if you already had a different victory earlier in the same game the spaceship can still be build but it is a useless exercise!

Ive had the same prob after the date 2050 on a game i just played on and finished everthing for the ship then when its done I press f10 and it wont take me to the screen anyone know whats wrong?:(

After 2050 means game over! At least for setting a score. Now Firaxis could still let you launch the spaceship but they have apparently decided not to do so.

You can't build a spaceship after another victory! Oh effen A! I clicked and pointed and built and spent like crazy for at least 200 years after a cultural victory, and to know this just breaks my heart. I want to see the video! Does anyone know how I can see it w/o building a spaceship?

Download a space victory save game from GotM...

Or even easier: search the CD for anything in .mov .avi .mpg format (or let Windows Media Player do it for you).

Better yet - there is no video.....

 There is a launch video displayed when you have assembled the spaceship and press Launch. Lemme check if it is on the CD. Have to drive home first......

Made it home! Checked the CD-ROM and the files are there but they are in .bik format. No clue how to play them other then by achieving a Space Race. Wasn't that the original purpose?

I got screwed around space race! Using Germany, I had taken the continent by force, which went unwitnessed by other civs. With my iron fist but Pentium 4 brain, I used strategic pounding and bombing to slow down Russia, then Egypt. Russia dies from other civs. Egypt gets peace later on.

So having sufficiently been an annoyance, I turn my attention to space. Horrors, when half my craft is ready I run out of Aluminium! No one will trade with me (cos I'm a bully, or cos they know I am aiming for the sky?) and there is no free Alum left. SO I look around and find several spots held by Egypt and Greece. I decide on Greece, a lone spot on American soil with 2 Alum near each other.

It is sheer genius as I get Right of Passage, march tanks and Marines in, build a city at the Alum (auto war cos it's on Greek land), and nuke American roads and railways to prevent enemy help (cos Alex and Abe, them's buds). I rush an airport, and it's back to interstellar business!

And then, with the 2 Alum still in my ownership and 9 of the spaceship parts built...No city can build the last part. WHAT THE!!? No way man, that is NOT fair! I checked everything, NO reason I can't build the entertainment room! Oh well, I guess Histograph win ain't THAT bad...

Why why tell me why?!

Another possibility would be that you lost the city containing your Apollo Program.

Yup I'm sure. I had no Alum on my continent, so I deliberately planted and defended a city on Greek Alum-rich territory. The airport I rushed allowed me to build 5 more spaceship parts, then Laser got researched. Now I couldn't build the last part. Checked the city too(airport intact, Aluminium in my territory). And no one even set foot on my lands without being greeted by Cruises.

Now that I think it over, maybe they sat some units on the Alum squares or the roads leading to the Alum. But they never actually destroyed the Alum, and Alum was still shown in my Resource Box, AND I could build ICBMs...But whatever, so I nuked Egypt on 2050 and called it a day. Too bad now I actually have to LIVE on this irridiated planet.

I remember getting mad and going off to build ICBMs, or else I guess I may have run out of Uranium. Long ago so not sure...But all I needed to launch was the Entertainment centre, which doesn't need Uranium. Correct? (lazy to check. too much hair is heavy and causing a mild headache)

I had the same problem,
I just needed one part left which required the laser and uranium. Right before i discovered the laser my uranium ran out. I checked if other civs had any and they didn't and i didn't see any on the map (small world). This was most annoying. It was too late for me to win any other way. Ther year was around 2040 when i got laser. The city which i was to build the last part had only a few turns left building palace which i was soon to swith over to the last space ship part. This meant that I probably would have finished the game in about 3 turns. But as it turned out, I got majorly screwed over.
However, if any of you are smarter than me and now a way of still winning this game, be sure to clue me in.
