Good Day, I'm excited for the expansion. If anyone remembers Queen Isabella of Spain on Civ 4, you're aware that she is the most intolerant to civilizations that is not adherent to her religion severing diplomatic ties. I wonder if this will be case in the new expansion. I'm curious how does AI Leaders accommodate religion towards their diplomacy.

Do you think religion adaptation will greatly affect the Spanish queen's relation to other empires that will make her likely a warmonger before reaching Renaissance?

There's a whole lot of civs that can and probably will be very angry if someone doesn't believe in the same stuff as them... so, religion seems like just one more thing to make sure all AIs will declare war on you :D

I think Spain won't get faith bonus, because their UA is pretty good . What do I think it will happen is the spanish AI would invest strongly in faith and it'd be hostile to those who refuse to share a religion with it . If there's a change,it would be restricted to scenarios .

I would love to see Isabella something like "Oh. You are just converted to heathen religion? MAY GOD BURN YOU IN THE HELL" and Spain civ UA change to something like "Reconquista: Attack bonus against non-state religion".
Actually, It doesn't make sense to a leader (especially Isabella) who is hold a crucifix for 6000 year and curse you when at war not to do so.

Too bad they are DLC. So I wonder they can make much change with civ who other payed for it.

Their UA is kinda OP, but i do agree that it would be religious/expansionist. Playing with Isabella will be a nightmare for peace lovers.

Reconquista is a bad name for their UA,because the translation is "recapture" . I think "Cruzada" would be better, but it seems that there might be a religion bonus that gives something like that . And it's very possible that you can receive Spain DLC if you don't have one when you buy G&K expansion .

I am expecting that Isabella of Spain will be the first one to found a religion. If not, she'll do her best to beat you to a religious conversion. I actually miss her. Her character in Civ 4 is totally different in Civ 5.

Poom along with the 9 new Civs, Spain is being included in the expansion also free of charge. People like me who bought the DLCs (finally) will still have the Inca, but this means Spain is very possible to have its UA changed.

I don't think their UA needs to be edited at all. Just make Isabella's "religion diplomatic tolerance" (whatever they call the new leader personality) incredibly high. Like 9/10 (so even with the +/- 2) she will resemble the civ4 nut we all miss.

The UA doesn't need to change for this.

Doubt this. I've heard speculation that Spain might be free because they're supposedly in a scenario, but I don't see why people assume they're going to be playable outside of the scenario (e.g., you can't play as Tahiti just because they're in the Polynesia scenario).

If there actually is real confirmation that Spain is going to be included free, someone let me know.

Yeah it's confirmed
It was in one of the french or german articles

"Reconquista" is a good name, actually. It's the name of a specific episode in Spanish history. It shouldn't be translated.

If they rework their UA, they could simply swap the "double production from NW" to "+X faith when working a NW", and keep the extra gold from discoveries. But it's weird that they would give Spain away with the expansion, and even weirder that they would change the UA. They could create a new leader for Spain, but that would be weird too.

I bet that they will be in the scenario with a new UA, and that's it.

I bought Spain/Inca DLC and I wouldn't mind if Spain is in the expansion.

As for an overhaul: I think we can expect some changes of "old" civs. England will get an extra spy, for example. So, why not change Spain's UA? (Not saying that it is needed...)
