Now in Black and White!!
second attempt at a story. after successfully completing two Monarch games in a row I decided to move up.

Difficulty: Emperor
World Size: Huge
Land Mass: Large Continents, Wet, Warm, 4 Billion Years
Barbarians: Roaming
Default Rules
Good Old PTW seeing as Conquests is eluding me until this Friday
I get this feeling this is going to be a lot harder than my normal games, due mainly to the fact this is my first Emperor Game and also Ive never been Spain before due to their less than ideal UU. But here goes .. Let me know how I'm doing if you can, I'm trying to improve my game. Thanks.
From the masses, a leader rose. proclaiming herself Queen, Isabella promised to turn the Nomadic Spanish from a rambling mass of barbarians into an Empire which the World had never seen.
4000 BC The Beginning
Hmm, not the worst starting spot Ive ever had. Wheat on the flood plains to the south will certainly help me grow and there are forests to the north. I can see the coast from this location but Ill resist the call from the sea and found Madrid where I am. My worker will move to the Wheat while Madrid churns out 2 (or 3) warriors and then a settler. Ill leave Madrid defended by a lone warrior for the time being until I can trade some other Civ for Bronze Working. Science is set at its lowest and Ill head straight for Literature and (hopefully) the Great Library.
3800 BC Go Forth .
First warrior is produced, looking at the world map I shall send the warrior north. Hopefully the warrior will find some tribes more advanced than I and we can trade.
3700 BC The Spice of Life
On its travels, my warrior discovers a supply of spice, only one however. This means that the residents of Madrid will be happy but we will not have enough to trade for foreign gold.
3500BC Exploration
My warrior is successful!! Having befriended the residents of the Khazak village they have shared the technology to build bowls and cups of pottery with us. Such information is invaluable and the people of the tribe are thanked with great vigour. But this is only the beginning of our warriors journey.
3050BC Prospering Madrid
Due to increasing culture in the Capital, the borders grow. More land for the Spanish Empire. A Settler is also spawned from the people of Madrid and this settler will head West, to the spice and form our first port city, Barcelona. Madrids lone worker will work tirelessly to form a road link between the two cities. Another Khazak village has been found by our warrior and this time they have parted with 25 gold for our cause, may the Gods shine brightly on the generous Khazaks. Still no other sign of life though
2950 BC Contact
Perhaps I spoke too soon. This turn a Scout from the Russian Empire travels to the boundaries of the Spanish Empire. They bring knowledge of Bronze Working and Warrior Code and have yet to learn Alphabet and Ceremonial Burial. I think an exchange is in order. I share Alphabet, Ceremonial Burial and 31 Gold to learn the secrets Russia currently holds. What is worrying is a survey conducted previous have shown the Russians as the most powerful Civilization while Spain doesnt even register. A wary eye must be kept on this neighbour.
2850 BC Barcelona
Barcelona is founded and the road connecting the Spice is almost complete.
2750 BC France
My lone warrior scout has finally made contact with another civilization, the French. Although some distance away from Madrid, Joan of Arc has mastered the secrets of Masonry whilst ignoring the skills of Pottery, Warrior Code and Ceremonial Burial. As Pottery can lead to more settlers being produced this knowledge will be kept secret whilst trading for Masonry. Joan allows the trade of Masonry and 25 Gold for Warrior Code and Ceremonial Burial. On the same turn Masonry is sold to the Russians for almost all of their gold, 90 gold pieces. From French lands the warrior will now head south.
2590 BC Settler
Madrid assembles another settler and this time it will be sent south in search of luxuries.
2470 BC Seville
South of Madrid is a mountain Range; the city of Seville will be founded here in order to check any possible Russian expansion north although finding out where the Russian Empire lies would be better
2190 BC Writing
The Spice road is finally completed. Luxuries can now be dropped to 0%. Also, Spanish Scribes finally master the art of writing, which is then shared with our neighbours, the French for 60 gold. This gold is used to build embassies in both Capitals. The Russians, with their inferior trading system were unable to muster the money required to learn the arts of writing.
2030 BC Gems
In this turn the city of Toledo was constructed on the large flood plains south of Madrid. The location of our next city has also been agreed upon as a Spanish warrior to the south of Seville has brought back word of large amounts of Gems in the mountains, so this luxury must be taken in the name of the Queen of Spain.
1675BC Iron Working
Here, France agreed to share the skills of working Iron in exchange for 210 gold. A paltry sum as now the Spanish Empire brings in more than 12 gold per turn, which will only increase further with the acquisition of the Gem deposits. Our maps show Iron west of Barcelona so those too must be taken for the Spanish army.
