Special Units

[Super Newbie]

Hello all! I'm really new to this game and I was wondering how to build the special units. I used china and have been trying to build the riders. I have the required resources (iron and horses) and the required advancement (chivalry) for my city but for some reason all I get are knights and calvary but no riders. Please help!

At the beginning of the game, did you check the "allow civ specific abilities" box?If you didn´t, then you won´t have your special unit.
