Well with football season here and Baseball heating up I figured i'd ask what you people think about sports betting.

With free online betting sites like streak for the cash and centsports it leads to another question does it change how you watch sports if you bet on it.

Oh and as a horrible little plug anyone interested in free sports betting can play at centsports

I've gone through a few of the UK betting companies using their free bet offers and ended up making a reasonable amount of money. Its worth reading the terms and conditions though as some sites require the first bet to be at specific odds before granting a free bet.

As someone who used to work in a betting shop I tend to bet. Nothing major though. only 2 or 3 pounds a bet. I tend to put accumulators on. £2 with about ten teams means if I win then I'm up about a grand (..... has never happened :( ) and if I don't, then at least it gives me something to cheer for when my teams not playing.

I'm not the type of person to put like £100 on a bet (not even the type to put £20 on a bet). Just can't justify the risk.

pissing away 100 pounds continously with insane 2 pound bets is better?

Its quite a popular past time for some people. A bit like playing the lottery but you can pretend that there is a bit of skill involved. I've placed one quite large bet which was because I then got a free bet which I put on the opposition so I was guarenteed to win at least a bit of cash.

Unfortunately my talent for picking winners in the NFL doesn't translate too well towards betting because of spreads. During the pickems here, when I actually participated I was right 2/3rds of the time.

It's not insane. I was one team away from £1200 last week. Sh*t happens. I'll risk 2 pounds for the potential of winning that amount

And truth be told I'm actually up this year, not by much but I tend to break even. My best win was around the World Cup last year. after all my insane £2 bets I was up about £160.

Here in Canada we can bet on European football games. You can bet on English, Itailan, or Spanish league games, or the Champions League. I've never done it, as I'm not really into gambling, but my dad does it all the time (I know because he asks me for advice). He'll win from time to time. Usually his strategy is to make a small bet and pick a bunch of upsets - meaning that if he gets them all right, he gets a decent amount of $ back.

I have never gotten it because football(soccer) is so damn unpredictable, but I can see the appeal of it.

I have my biggest problem when betting on Baseball games. It is just too much of a chance that a team will win one game even if they will get destroyed the other two games.
