Spy mission or random event?

I can't find this in the event log (oddly) but half of the improvements on one of my cities were levelled and I could have sworn that it said that the Dutch were responsible.

I figured I'd give a little payback but there's no option for my spies to do such a thing (I mean except one at a time, and that's not what this was - the text informing me of the destruction implied that it was some co-ordinated vandalization) was this a random event, a special mission for great spies or something else entirely?

Not to be rude, are you sure this happaned? If it happans again a screenie would help, but if it's not in the event log, I don't know sorry. Of course, it could be a bug

Could it of been a spy on each improvement. Did the espionage point ratio you have with him change from him spending his points to do this to you? Prepare for war!...or sanctions...or diplomatic isolation.

edit after reread: "coordinated vandalization" sounds like some sort of event that might have originated as an event with him first as several choices. But odd that it isn't in the log.

As odd as it sounds, it is a little of both.

If a city has a few unhappy citizens, occasionaly a random event will pop up for a nearby civ, asking if they want to take advantage of that fact in order to stir up some trouble.
The biggest possible effect spends a small amount of gold AND espionage points, and destroys a few terrain improvments and buildings inside the city, with a % chance (55% i think) for the civ to see who caused the unrest.

I love getting this one to use against my rivals. It can cause alot of torment.

The best (only?) way to prevent this is to keep unhappy citizens out of your cities entirely.

Ah HA! Thanks Scramble that sounds like that was it.

Boom, not rude at all I know it sounds odd and I was really annoyed that it didn't show up in the event log. But it definitely did happen and it sounds like what scramble said, there was some discontent or something that happened first then immediately afterwards (same turn) it escalated, some buildings and improvements (all my lovely towns!) were gone and I got a message saying that the Dutch had stirred the pot.

Still if it happans again I would like see a screenie. Sorry I couldn't help more:sad:

I had this event happen to me twice in one game, both times to my capital. Both times it also took out my only gold and my only iron. In other words, it was painful.

Its an event.

I managed to destroy 4 improvements and 1 building in an opposing city using the second option for 450 Spypoints.

The third would have included a 50% chance to unrest or something like that.
