I can't believe it has now been 40 years. It seems like almost yesterday when I first saw this seminal movie written by James Dickey which epitomized so much about the South at the time, both in terms of good and bad. It literally launched the film career of Ned Beatty, and it solidified those of Jon Voight, Burt Reynolds, and Ronny Cox.
