SSG01 - Succession Story Game - Holland to Hydrae

Tomorrow became over a month, but I did finally post a story. I'll update the log with the link. AutomatedTeller, are you still with us? If so, feel free to pick up the pieces and run with them.

Alrighty then. The roster has thinned out some. Here is what we have left:

1. Anaxagoras - just played
2. CommandoBob - UP!!
3. Rodent - On Deck
4. Open
5. Open
6. Open

Casualties:
1. CivRulesAll - Retired/Status Unknown
2. ThinkTank - Retired/Honored Lurker
3. AutomatedTeller - Retired/Honored Lurker

CBob, you are up, if you are willing. There are only three of us left, I've just played, and Rodent is out studying for the week. If you can't take it, we can wait for Rodent's return. Just give us a thumbs-up or thumbs-down.

I have posted a recruiting message on the board, and anyone who wants to step up and take a whack with us is certainly welcome. If the honored lurkers change their minds, we're always happy to have them back, of course! Hopefully we'll be able to breathe this one back to life.

Downloaded the save and need to refresh myself with our plans, dreams, hopes, etc.

Long Term Strategy
Reach for the stars

Mid Term Strategy
Eliminate Japan.
Dominate this continent.

Short Term Strategy
In 4 more turns we will have 5 vArchers that could begin to attack Japan. We could pick off Toyko rather easily, since it is size 1. At that size it will autoraze, which is bad since it is connected to Furs. So I think we should attack Osaka (2) first, which also denies Japan their Ivory. Then either attack Kyoto or Tokyo. Both have Furs. We save Edo (1) for last, since it is far away from the Japanese core.

Connect our two unconnected cities.

Three cities with barracks (Rotterdam, The Hague and Utrecht) crank our vArchers.
Library builds continue as-is.
Groningen makes Warriors after the curragh for crowd control. We can switch the Curragh to Warrior, but we lose 1 shield.

Didn't log in yesterday, CBob, but your strategy notes sound pretty good. I wonder if we might want to wait for a sixth or seventh archer before mounting an attack, but I am often too conservative in military operations, and we have good incentive to attack earlier rather than later, here, given how crowded things are.

I definitely agree that we should leave Edo for last. We will need to garrison that side of the empire, though, against potential builds from there. I think I would go Osaka -> Kyoto -> Tokyo. The capital is likely to be more than size 1, and taking it out would be very disruptive for the Japanese. It will likely have a few more garrisons, though.

I don't think we should switch the curragh build. We need to find the other continent as soon as we can. We need the crowd control, but it can wait for the boat, I think.

I'm looking forward to your set. I hope once we get this thing going again that we can get some other folks to join in.

Looking good, CBob!

I got the turns played and I have the glimmering of a story idea; first attempt didn't go right so I'm rethinking how to do it.

Take your time. Still looking for recruits to this game. Rodent hasn't checked in for a awhile, but I know he's been posting in other threads. I would be nice to get a few other folks to pitch in here, as well.

Just to let you guys know, exams end tommorow :woohoo: and then I can play.

[Preflight]
Let curragh complete.

And Osaka is ours, at size 1. We begin a settler (subject to change).

Move vArcher out of Great Elphantium, due to Japanese rWarrior on the prowl between the Cities of The Elephants.
But that means upping the luxury slider to 50% to keep that city happy. Rather high, but only until the road is completed, then it can drop down to 10% again. We still make +10 gpt.

No story yet, but within 24 hours or less.

Great set and story, CBob. The alien theme is working out pretty well. I love the fun with call signs.

Game-wise, the war is on and looking good so far. The next set should be a fun one. Rodent, are you ready? Also, we could still use some volunteers to help us out. Guests are welcome here, as well. Try it out for a set, and see what you think.

Meanwhile, here is the current roster:

1. Anaxagoras - On Deck(?)
2. CommandoBob - just played
3. Rodent - UP!!
4. Open
5. Open
6. Open

I expect you know my position Anax, I am up in Rod01, SGFN-06 and this. This is supposed to be a slow game so I will take my time, if you do not mind

No problem. Take your time. Why don't you post here when you think you'll actually be ready to play. If I get enough free time to run a set and a story, I'll take it, but if I haven't posted back first, it is yours.

Sound OK?

Hoping to play Tommorow, Dont bet on it though

I have decided on my Story, and I will churn it out Tommorow
