I play my 2nd regent game (as Japan) and are about to start a war with China. I completely own my medium size continent, China is the dominant power on the other large continent. Small powers are Egypt and France.

I have 2 cities on that continen, securing a luxury each. Both are cities on hills.

China has 75 cities and 450 MI in communism. If I start a war, can I assume that Chinas stack of death is something like 450 - (75*4) = 100 MI? Any experiences?

ps: In each of my stronghlods I have 4 MI armies, about 30 artillery, about 20 MI/MA

tao, i'll try to answer you from my own experience. It might not be the case as I can not say that I understood the way the AI wages the initial stages of a war.

First you have to deduct between 2.5 X and 4X number of AI cities. AI will never use those units to attack.

Second I noticed that there are about 2 to 4 SOD attacking at the beginning and will look for the weakest defended target within their reach. You must take all defensive positions and should get all the arty you can get on the battlefield. I'd say more like 40 - 60 arty that red-line the enemy. Do not counter-attack without having redlined the enemy as MI are strong defenders.
