stalin never did anything wrong, everything he did was for the greater good of mother russia.
Yes, I guess he was killed before he could actually do much. Not to mention that he due to revolution, he had nearly no lasting impact...This is fake. I cannot imagine anybody putting Stolypin on 1-st or 2-nd place, he is not so noticeable figure compared to Peter, Stalin or Pushkin.
I agree, I never liked such rankings. Yet, the results allow for some conclusions...And whole idea to compare greatness of, say, Pushkin and Suvorov is stupid.
Because Germans know that Hitler is an Austrian.Imagine the international outrage if Germans had voted Hitler as the greatest ever German...

He did not. Next question.Depends. Did he ever get Russian citizenship? How did that all work in the era of the USSR? If he got Russian citizenship, he was Russian.
There are important differences between them. For starters Stalin was not after exterminating all the Slavs.Just another proof of how deeply screwed the Russian national mentality is. Only a masochist or an idiot can vote for one of the greatest mass murderers in human history. How many people did this guy kill? Was that 20 or 40 million, I lost count.
Babbler cares. If Germans voted for Hitler, there would be an international outrage and suspicion. Stalin - nobody cares.
"Whoever will come to us with a sword, from a sword will perish!"WHERE IS THE LOVE FOR NEVSKY?!

I think you are either naive or lack some historical knowledge...stalin never did anything wrong, everything he did was for the greater good of mother russia.
Never crossed my mind. Need to check the Russian sites for that. Comparing Stalin to Pushkin is indeed strange at best as well as putting Makhno on the list of "Greatest Russians".This is fake. I cannot imagine anybody putting Stolypin on 1-st or 2-nd place, he is not so noticeable figure compared to Peter, Stalin or Pushkin. And whole idea to compare greatness of, say, Pushkin and Suvorov is stupid.
I checked. Here's one commentary: "выбралThe purported source is the big state TV channel "Rossiya". Should be easy to check if they are putting this about.
)))такое впечатление что там можно одну и ту же кнопку жать до бесконечности" (Translation: I got the impression that I can press one and the same button till eternity)Like CNN, BBC and your home channels covering the news from Iraq? WMD reports? Spare us the poetry state news channels are all in the same business.Since it's Russian state TV I guess faking a poll result is perfectly possible...

Good thing I'm watching TV news channels run according to different principles then, i.e. not by the state and not by corporate interest, and which includes none of the above mentioned.Like CNN, BBC and your home channels covering the news from Iraq? WMD reports? Spare us the poetry state news channels are all in the same business.
I never even mentioned either CNN or BBC.Verbose, he was replying to your message, where you suppose that Russian state TV lies more than CNN or BBC.
But you think so, no?I never even mentioned either CNN or BBC.
There are important differences between them. For starters Stalin was not after exterminating all the Slavs.
Great, thats really wonderful. What is the principle? Maybe its something more people need to think about.Good thing I'm watching TV news channels run according to different principles then, i.e. not by the state and not by corporate interest, and which includes none of the above mentioned.
Your point is that Russian state owned news channels could fake results:Besides, it wasn't me calling the results a fake, but Red Elk.
I replied that its not a question of nationality.Since it's Russian state TV I guess faking a poll result is perfectly possible...
I am sceptical towards the OP, not this particular poll. I would not call Alexander Nevsky the greatest Russian, but I am more or less satisfied with the 12 nominees. They certainly deserve a place among 100 greatest Russians of all time.I'm perfectly happy to accept that poll result at face value, if that's the way it went down, and lo and behold, that seems to have been the case. (Still a bit flummoxed by Stolypin in second though.)
No, but we were to follow.1) Slavs were not the primary target, that "honor" went to the Jews.
Exactly. He was rational - destroyed those in the way. A lot of people do that. Hitler was after physical extermination of people based on blood and nothing else. Stalin did irreversible harm with his policies, but it doesn't mean that he was a blind monster.2) No, he wasn't a racist - he was killing pretty much everybody: Ukrainians, Russians, Poles, kulaks, communists who were not useful anymore..
He is the guy under whom Russians survived as a nation. I know it is a bad objective accoridng to you, but its not a bad thing according to us.Such a lovable guy. He doesn't even deserve to be in the first 100,000,000, so the 3rd place is a disgrace.
3) He wasn't even a Russian.
Some months ago you claimed that he is a Russian. "In spirit" you said "which is the same thing". I'll let you argue how you didn't mean to say it.That would be some other people on this board. Those who trust, get betrayed and then sell their souls and wifes for 5$ to those who betrayed them. So, are the Russians masochistic idiots or what?
The same way the West can support Shashkavilli that has blood of thousands on his hands. Blood is not the only parameter considered. How can they vote for someone who has the blood of millions on his hands?
Look above. For someone so ruthless and paranoid?
And this ladies and gentlemen is BULL. Russians and Georgians, while having their problems are both Orthodox countries with people that mostly have their heads on straight. Friendship between people of our nations lasts for many hundres of years. No Sashkavilli (or other Presidents) are going to change that. So, with regard to despising: shut it.For a Georgian, the little nation you despise?
Stalin was fairly great, he just wasn't very nice.
That would be Bush and Americans.Stalin was an insult to Communism but not neccessarily too bad for the Russians; he made the Russians feel good by conquering everybody else
