Standard MP conversion to Play-by-email

First post to a forum ever.

Willing to take any and all CONSTRUCTIVE criticism.

I enjoy playing Civ against my human friend. I enjoy chatting during cooperative turn play as I maliciously plan his/her pending demise.

What I don't enjoy is waiting for their turn to be over after war is declared.

It would be really nice if their was an option to switch over to a play-by-email format at this point. Any thoughts?

You're saying you want to play Simultaneous Turns ("cooperative turn"?), then when you would otherwise hybrid into turn-based, switch the save format to a hotseat mode you can trade by e-mail.

It can't be done. It's technically impossible.

The mechanism would be like playing a MP game on sequential. Also, it would be too dependent on trust.

I don't understand why this is "impossible".

You automatically switch to turn-based when you declare war on another human player. Isn't PBE just another form of a turned base game?

As for trust. It's a game. Why would you want to cheat, it kind of defeats the purpose of playing.
