An actual Canadian
Okay, so I had this thought today of a mod that isn't a total conversion or mod pack in itself, but a Star Wars Civilization. This would add the Galactic Republic into the game. This isn't the Republic from the video games, but the prequel trilogy, the old, declining Republic under the rule of Chancellor Palpatine, in between Episode II and Episode III. So here it goes.
This civilization has a few unique things, two of the unique units are new, they'll have their own great general names, and their own religion.
The Galactic Republic
Colours: Dark Red and Black. If this clashes with other civilizations, dark red could change to dark blue.
Preferred Religion: The Force (Will get to that later)
Preferred Ideology: Freedom
Start Bias: Grassland/Plains inland.
Leader: Chancellor Palpatine.
Unique Ability: May the Force Be With You: 10% combat strength against units from civilizations with a majority religion different than yours.
Unique Units
1) Great General: This isn't a new unit per say, but units with their own names, Jedi Council Members from the prequel trilogy: Yoda, Mace Windu, Ki-Adi-Mindu, Kit Fisto, Plo Koon, Saesee Tinn, Depa Billaba, Eeth Koth, Even Piell, Oppo Rancisis, Yarel Poof, Adi Gallia, Qui-Gon Jinn, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Anakin Skywalker.
2) Venator Class Star Destroyer: This is a very late class unit that only the powerful of Republics can obtain. They are a blend of carrier and helicopter gunship in one crazy good unit.
- Available at Nanotechnology
- Costs one uranium and one aluminum.
- 150 strength, 100 range attack, 6 movement, ignores terrain cost.
- Cannot take cities
- Can operate on both land and water (If this is possible). Seriously, they're advanced space-venturing weapons of awesome, sure they can remain on water/coast/ocean tiles. But for fairness purposes, let's say they only have movements equal to embarked movement.
- They can carry up to five cargo of: Fighters, Jet Fighters, Bombers (Yes Stealth Bombers too), Guided Missiles, and Nuclear Missiles. They begin with cargo II and can increase their cargo with promotions. (Like the carrier)
- Production Costs: Quick: 500, Regular: 900, Epic: 1150, Marathon: 2000
3) Jedi Knight: These serve as the front line melee infantry for the Information Era
- Available at Particle Physics
- Costs one uranium (Lightsabers aren't cheap you know!!)
- 110 Strength, 2 movement.
- Begins with "The Force" promotion: Kills generate faith (Somewhat like the culture and gold gain for barbarians), 10% strength when another Jedi Knight is adjacent, increased combat strength (30 maybe) when Great Prophets are near.
- Production Costs: Quick: 350, Regular: 500, Epic: 800, Marathon: 1590.
- Jedi Knights cannot be bought by gold or faith. (Seriously, these people are trained from childhood in an art that few master, you can't just have one immediately!! It takes time.)
Unique Building
Jedi Academy
- Available at Education, replaces university.
- Same gains, but also 3 Faith.
- 10% Increase in melee unit production.
Cities of the Galactic Republic
So with a galactic territory, there ought to be, a lot of cities. So I thought why not name cities in this mod on planets within the republic. I got this map as a reference, so may as well use these names for cities.
New Religion
So I said before the preferred religion for Palpatine would be The Force. Modders could use this image...
as a reference for the religion icon.
I'm no modder so I hope these ideas and suggestions could be enough to start on a Galactic Republic Mod.

So on further thought, maybe a specific class of Star Destroyers would be too much (If there isn't a model for the Venator Class available for conversion from Civilization IV. So I went back to one model I found that could work as a Star Destroyer. From the EE2 Future Units Kit, modders can use the texture from the top row in the middle.
As well, for the Jedi, the long swordsman texture from Civilization V could be altered so it looks like they're wearing cloaks, and their swords could also be altered to glow different colours of lights. Although stopping them from resting their light sabres on their shoulders may be a challenge...
