StarNES Part I: Rise of Galactic Empires

Someone enlgihten me, how many turns from an organisation am I?

I think you can join next turn. (after next update.)

Global Nexus, since i'm completing Energy Banks, you'll have to add Interstellar Stock Exchange to the tech list. Now I have only to meet a few other races (Preferably Diplomatic and Scientific) and the tech trading and major commerce flow can start. (We can trade techs, right? RIGHT?)

Yes I would prefer a civilization, can you add me in the list so I could send orders?

Since good 'ole Erik posted that your PM box was full then here's my orders...
(since I've already researched basic commerce I'm spending 4 credits on four volounteer colonization campaigns on my four claimed planets.)
The last 2 credits on 30 Artillery Frigates to attack the minor race. I made two different attack plans depending on what age they are, so just use whatever is appropriate:
Spoiler If enemy is Renaissance Age or earlier tech :
Play GOD!! If they refuse to obey us, play god again and bombard them approximately back to the dark ages. Then take them as forced labor.
Spoiler If enemy is Industrial Age or later tech :
Fly around the planet. Multiple times. Check for radar installations. Take care to fly over these. Watch as planet panics due to religious proclamations of doom and sectarian movements inviting the UFOs down. Then, blast the radar installations to smithereens and proclaim that we are taking over the planet. Blow important military installations up and seize control of the planet.

Send 5 scout ships to closest unclaimed stars to the south and east.

If the minor race next to me is stone-aged, should I assume that "15% System Defense" is purely their army, and I can bombard them back to the Early Stone Age from orbit?
In that case I foresee another invasion coming...

Once again I avoid making an extra post by editing a map in here!!

ARKATUS ORDERS:
Scout Group Mound heads East
Scout Group Ebalit heads North-North-East
Scout Group Garho heads North
Scout Group Losak heads North-West
Scout Group Rikva heads South-West
Spend 4 Credits on VCCs to all claimed planets
Spend 2 Credits completing Energy Banks research.

I rule.

I'll name my systems later.

Riddla Republic Elections
The elections are in! After a 5 year term the Trade Commerce Party has had to face fierce opposition from newly emerging and old, staunch political rivals.

A breakdown of the parties:

Trade Commerce Party - Ruling political party headed by Emperor (title of the head of the executive branch) Xxzkdrahg that has been in power for over 25 years or 5 term cycles. The party prides itself in creating the Riddlan Space Program, space exploration, and most importantly, a strong economy. Although they have been in power for 50 years, recent times and events have caused new political factions to rise and claim a bid for the government. While gradually slipping, Riddlans from all classes support the Trade Commerce Party.

Grand Union Party - Old, Socialistic party. Longtime rivals of the Trade Commerce Party. The GUP advocates worker rights and more compassionate values. The GUP has a moderate base in workers and craftsmen, although in recent years their influence has increased in other areas as well. There have been reported rumors that the GUP has made deals with criminal organizations.

Spacer Party - A newly formed party that advocates aggressive space exploration and colonization. They have no real platform about the economy. Made up of mostly wealthy businessmen who see a huge opportunity in space. Many CEOs and executives of Riddlan corporations belong to this political party, as well as a few prominent scientists.

Hokan Party - Named after a very large, sturdy, and old tree, the Hokan Party represents the elite of the elite. The "Old Bloods" banded together in an attempt to stop their power from dwindling. This party has received little welcome from the majority of the populace, although they command a political influence.

And now election results!

Spoiler :
Trade Commerce Party - 50%
Grand Union Party - 32%
Spacer Party - 10%
Hokan Party - 5%
Abstain - 3%

Unsurprisingly, the Trade Commerce Party has won, although it is beginning to lose its stronghold. The Trade Commerce Party still commands the federal government. Perhaps next election there will be new leadership.

Yes, fantasmo, you can join as an organization next turn. ^^ I'll add you right now, Cleric...

Oh yes. And the front page has been updated with lots of new data on ship chassis and one or two weapons. Check it out to see how much these new ships will cost, what research will be required for their construction, and what exactly they will do. Gal. Station modules will be coming soon, too, so watch that closely. Expect to see added tech descriptions and data coming online, too, within the next week.

ALL: Please, if anyone is willing to take the job of typing up a good -- and I stress good -- timeline for me, they will be rewarded. ;)

I can try that.

Actually, NVM that, lost interest in it in the second sentence, sorry.

Is there something wrong, North King? You're usually one of the better NESers as far as stories go, but you've not yet written one. Is there something the matter?

ALL MKII: I updated the first post with an added note on the relation between system development and economy. It's something I believe I didn't make clear to begin with. Erik Mesoy, if there are further questions, my PM box is no longer full.

Last week has been hectic, sorry. I've been trying to get a story but the creativity just won't flow. ;) I'm trying for one with orders tomorrow. Granted, that's going to be on top of updating my own NES tomorrow, writing another two stories for ANOTHER NES, worrying myself sick over Jason's NES, etc, etc. :p

NK, my advice is: Kill something. Like break a bird or something.

All right - my Galactipedia is now functioning pretty smoothly from where I am. Anyone care to give me some feedback on it?
I'm still waiting for North King's homeworld name, and for planet descriptions in general.

Riddla Republic's Government

The current system of government has been in place for over a 1,000 years. Although the last millenia has not been all quiet and silent, the government has endured. It was formed from a previously feudal society and designed to appease previously powerful feudal lords while establishing a strong, central identity.

Executive Branch

The chief executive, or more commonly known as the Emperor, is not popularly elected. Instead, his political party is nominated and voted on. The leader of whichever political party holds majority sway is then the Emperor. There have been numerous attempts to change the Emperor's office to a directly elected position, but without much avail. Current Emperors and future hopefuls simply do not want to relinquish the power the Emperor has. An interesting note is that there has never been an occurance where one political party did not win a majority of the votes. If such an even were to occur, a coalition would have to be formed, with no clear definitive Emperor.

Legislative Branch

The Legislative Branch consists of three seperate houses.

The Feudal Alliance, perhaps the most influential legislative house, is made up of "old blood" nobles. These are the feudal lords' descendants. Designed to appease the nobility of old, this institution is regarded in modern times as unnecessary and autocratic. Change will not come easily, however, the nobles have a strong sway over the government.

The Governor's Senate is composed of all governors of provinces. The governor's are popularly elected. There has mostly been any equiliberium of the various parties in the Senate, mainly due to the fact that provinces were divided up according to political beliefs. In the past, the Senate has had little power, but it is changing as Governor's continue to gain support from their provinces.

The People's Coalition is composed of popularly elected representatives and special appointments. The Coalition is the youngest in the legislative branch, having been created only 100 years before. The Coalition's primary job is to doggedly watch the Senate and the Alliance, and hence have no real power. Although there are strong voices that are demanding that to be changed.

No, I was really more worried about you. ^^;; I mean, stuff has been bad for me recently. Emotional crap and the like. So I was hoping you weren't getting into something like that. ^^

No, thank goodness. I'm just declining emotionally since I'm back to school and all, Christmas was the high point of the year.

We're trying for a big long story this turn. :)

I know something you dont want me to know Toteone. Attack if you like, you wont find me an easy target as I know you are coming.

lurker's comment: Each star is more than one pixel wide, so when I click on a star, it says there's nothing there.

WOW, Erik. That's some serious bit of work (adds Alaska and Sonora to future Japanese colonial empire in America).

Maybe you can make a flash version with descriptions appearing in the main window?
