The Zentraedi​

The Zentraedi are largely a military society. From what can be found in their official records the Zentraedi were genetically modified and improved primitive life forms with one goal in mind – to create perfect fighting units. Who created the Zentraedi and when is unknown to anyone outside the highest circles of the Zentraedi society (probably not more than 100 individuals). As it happened the creators (if they existed) left a bunch of them on duty on one of the planets. After hundreds of years what was a lonely and uninhabited outpost turned into a flourishing militaristic civilization.
It is believed that the “genetic ancestors” of the Zentraedi originate from a planet some hundreds of light years away. Despite that Zentraedi are quite similar in appearance to them.

Zentraedi are orthograde mammals with two sexes. Due to the extremely militaristic nature of the Zentraedi the two sexes rarely mix during military exercises or on missions. However contrary to the ancient practice they are now allowed to “fall in love” and have offspring. This measure was taken after the last of the cloning machines went offline together with most of the old equipment. This innovation has lead to both fall of discipline and greater freedoms in the society. After 300 years the last strongholds of the “old order” fell giving birth to a new civilization. Zentraedi had a difficult time trying to adapt to peaceful duties and production. Genetic modifications and centuries of military traditions have made this race very aggressive and unfriendly to members of a different family, nation or race. However it also made them very strong physically and mentally, allowing them to concentrate on specific tasks and accomplish them relatively quickly. Zentraedi culture has retained much of the older traditions with militarism, personal courage being the highest valued characteristics. Gladiator shows and semi-military exercises are a routine practice in the race. However very few die “sport combat” as it is believed that any individual is an asset is society. Despite centuries of effective isolation the Zentraedi preserved the concept of “other races” and have build their society in a “galactic” sense i.e. understanding that “national» and “clan” divisions must not go too far as there are enemies of other races out there that should be feared more than your Zentraedi enemy.

Existence of centuries old mecha and interstellar ships allowed Zentraedi to again open up the knowledge of their ancestors. Once their civilization reached a certain level they now can reactivate and rebuild many of the fighting machines used 1000’s of years ago. It is believed that their old war machine will be rebuilt as fast as the scientists are able to understand and reproduce it. Many of the designs are just waiting to be uncovered. One of the problems now facing the Zentraedi before uncovering their war machine is power. The old mechas and ships seemed to be powered by a biological energy source now abandoned and extinct on the planet. Perhaps it may be uncovered on neighboring planets and systems?
