Starting strategy "A new dawn"

I hope that AND strategies are discussed here and not only strategies for CIV4-Vanilla.

Has anyone a good starting strategy for me, e.g. which technologies to research?

I often feel like a drunk maniac walking through the early game and my success mostly depends on a good starting position.

I play on Noble.

You need to post a save and ask for advice. Almost impossible to reply the above as every game needs a different strategy.

Are you still playing the Vanilla game? Most on here play the Civ 4 BTS game.
