* Major, Major stuff with the meeting of Innovia this turn.
* You'll notice, that Innovia is in a race for last place with Loco for the weakest military. However, they have the highest crop yield by a significant margin, with only Loco coming close – which explains their very high city count… 6 cities! However, all this comes at the cost of steep maintenance, of course! This puts Innovia in a special bind, as they are already in last place in G.N.P. … clearly they will be hurting for money and beakers.
* Also note that Loco built the Mahabodhi this turn. This confirms that Zoroaster (born turn 104) was indeed birthed in Loco land as I speculated before. Hopefully our Great Prohphet will be appearing soon!

* Things are progressing nicely on the trading front. Loco has agreed to buy Code of Laws from us on the way cheap (100 gold) – we offered this crazy good deal to prevent a code-of-laws trade from happening between Loco and Innovia – since they are on good enough terms to have open borders, and Innovia has CoL already. There’s also some reason for optimism that we’ll soon have a deal with Piffle (on hold till whomp gets back from Vegas), and things are off to a good start with Innovia. All in all, I’m quite pleased… hopefully things keep swinging our way.

  • Big turn! Loco chose the 10gpt payment option to pay their 100 gold debt for Code of Laws. This will certainly help our economy… hopefully we'll have more gpt deals coming along soon.
  • Innovia discovered Civil Service and adopted Bureaucracy! That's pretty impressive from what I would have guessed about their economy. @ DaveMcW – should this adjust the discounts we've been proposing to pass out… esp in any deals to Innovia?
  • In a thinly veiled trade, Loco sent Monarchy to Innovia for Alphabet – I suspect a straight-across trade, as both those techs happen to be 300 beakers. There's no other way Innovia could have acquired Monarchy and Civil Service on the same turn. I guess I don't know it's a trade for sure… but it all fits too neatly to be anything else in all reasonableness.

  • Another Big turn on the International front! Loco and Innovia apparently are continuing to trade, but I think it goes beyond that. What we know for sure is that last turn (109) Loco didn’t have Metal Casting, and Innovia didn’t even have Iron Working… now they both have those techs. Since just last turn, Loco acquired Monarchy and Alphabet and Innovia got Monarchy and Civil Service… to both get even more techs this turn strongly suggests a 3rd partner… and as I’ve speculated before, Aloha seemed to be helping Innovia. With Aloha’s +34 point jump this turn, that would seem to be further evidence that we may indeed be looking at an emerging 3-way alignment of Loco-Innovia-Aloha… with Aloha as the weak partner. We’ll have to keep our eyes peeled. Other thoughts?
  • Piffle spent 12 gold from their stockpile last turn, but the trade screen only shows a 0gpt. I suspect that they are just running a negative balance on their research and the trade screen doesn’t show any numbers less than zero. But does anyone know for sure? I can’t think of what they could be upgrading for just 12 gold… so that seems to be the only reasonable explanation.

  • Piffle finally discovered a new tech! Hopefully that means they'll have Calendar soon, and we can swap them for Currency.
  • It was very thoughtful of the Barbarians to build a city for us right were we intended to settle (@ Wool & Whales) – now we just need to send some Axemen to go thank them for their help!
  • I've decided that the "International Force Alignment" shot I've been posting is actually pretty useless. Maybe when/if we go to war with someone and have more use for tracking units. But as it was – it was hard to see, and with all the different nations conglomerated together, it was pretty pointless, imo. If anyone disagrees and really wants that screen back, please let me know! In the meantime, I'm going to replace it with selected other graphs from our chart – probably a focus on the GNP chart, as I view that as our core advantage, and we'll want to keep on eye on it.

  • Piffle has certainly come around! From being our first contact, to being our first trading partner, to essentially breaking off communications and becoming our biggest rival and potential threat, to plunging to near obscurity in score, and then back to being our warmest relation and best trading partner! What a ride! The current Machinery/Calendar/Archery for Currency/Monarchy/Polytheism/Construction deal looks all set to go through in the next few turns… and then hopefully we can work out a deal to take both of us all the way to Liberalism!
  • We've learned enough about Aloha from various chats for me to add them to the Foreign Treaty/Diplomacy Status board – we're now tracking the relationships of every team in the world of Sirian.
