States General Assembly Hall

That sounds good, I would think the players would be split like this-

Hindu Nationalists-
Provoshogan
Diamondeye

Neutral-
Civplayah
Ice2k4
1889
Vra

Kingdom of Arete-
Cyc
Lord Civius

Tao Reformations-
TCN
Vandal Warlord

As for the Neutral cities, maybe have Arete go to the Kingdom of Arete, and have Arkadia, and Barcelona (?) (due to Cristianity)

I'm just popping in at a library in Memphis, TN. First of all, which city was a Taoist Temple prioritized in? Who's instructions did this follow? As a nation, I'm not seeing a problem in Arete allowing other religious factors, except for Diamoneye's post.

Which direction has the majority drifted as far as State Religion? Are we going for Free Religion? Or is all this up in the air? As Lord Civius has stated, we need gameplay reasons for a decision like this. Most of what I've read sounds more like RPG content.

Again, this is the Estates General Assembly Hall, and only Reps and authorized people are to post in this thread.

Provolution, I've have read your request for Representative status here and it will be approved as representing the Warlords.

But we need to look at the big picture here and that means the future plans we are to aim for. Please develop a discussion thread for all to post information in (so that I can read it), and let's look at all the facts.

Please also sign me up for the Estates Generals Assembly, for both COA and Edorai.
You are approved for Representative of the Warlords Faction.

The majority is with a state religion. And no.

NO NO NO NO.

What are we doing? If the game splits I will take no role in a civil war, for this quarrel has been blown out of proportion to feed on the violent want of us all. Don't get me wrong, this is a serious matter, and should be treated as such.

Let me make some points to back this statement though:

-Diamondeye, thank you for your explanation, it was very through and it has shown me what I have been looking for in this. You have explained yourself to me and I believe that we are on the same page.

As you know I have accepted Provo's past statement on a compromise, and i still believe it works. Also, I will state this now; Taoism should not spread, for it to do so will only cause problems for us and break unity in Arete. However, it is my belief that we should not begin to take unjust actions on the believes by shunning them completely. It would be healthy for the followers of Ibbisine Hinduism to know that there are people in the world that believe in different Gods. It would also be healthy to know that their government, who (don;t have me fooled) will prioritize their religion, has provided an amount of compassion for people with different beliefs, encouraging the following of scripture on a political level.

With this, I will disagree with you on one point. I would encourage you to stay within your ranks if the king approves the construction of a Taoist building, and instead of deeming the act as a show of a different religion's priority over Ibbisine Hinduism, show the act as an act of compassion toward a different kind of people in hope of showing them the light.

To the rest of the people here: That is my argument. And as much as I believe it to be the right road to travel down, I will in no way condone a war of any kind. The CoA should take us to Republicanism, and should be used as a tool to construct a Utopian Society out of Aretania.

@ Cyc: As far as I can see, I think the gameplay aspect of the debate has left, sadly enough.

Also, to the damn soulless Gameplay cult! Taoism buildings is not necessarily good gameplay either, now that Hinduism IS the State Religion. All I hear from the Taoist Supporters is UN-talk, Kumbayah, Human Rights etc etc. Totally ruins by perception and immersion of being in 1500s-1800s.

Also, this means present Taoist Builds will be frozen (all of them) and replaced with Hindu or other culture and happiness builds. Also, there is no chance for culture flip, when the Babylonians are gone.

I can agree with Provo, for now.

Honarary Clerk of the Relm,

But in the Future, Babylon will be dead, and with Babylon will come Islam, and Christianity is already spreading. What will happen then, will we stop the cobnstruction of those Religious buildings? And if our Empire continues to spread, what about Confucism, and Judaism? Sooner or later we will have to make the ultimate descion.

PS: Can someone post the final Gameplay descions of the TC thread.

Honorable Clerk of the Realm,

Allow me to answer to Civplayah. Sure, I want to care for these people and make them part of the Aretanian Empire. But you must realize these facts:
The aretanians are hinduists. That is our culture.
Converting these people to hinduism would help bring them into the aretan empire and to help them realize the right values of this world, the ibbisine values.

By providing spread of heathen religions or access to heathen institutions, you provide an alternative to this method of bonding and hence you are undermining the progress we are slowly gaining in making these people aretans.

I am not suggesting that we kill the taos. I am suggesting that we stop the thing frmo spreading and try to convert the people who are already tao. That would help both us and them.

At others: This is not mainly about gameplay, so please stop dragging the discussion over there.

Honorable Clerk of the Realm,

I think that now it is time to poll this, but may I say as a formality. I will do so at the request of another EGA member.

Honarary Clerk of the Relm,

In case anyone wanted to know my stand point.

Right now, I am still furiuos with the Destruction of the Taoist Holy City, although I am happy to see Venice continue to grow. I believe we are turning into Monsters. I have loved the way the Cycles have ran things, but the Warlords have displeased me during the turnchats, and only during the turn chats. I beileve we are setting our selves up for Civil War now, or in the Distant future.

Clerk of the Realm,

While all this quarelling is much fun, wasn't there a nice paragraph we decided upon using that needs to be posted to promote the country on the front page?

Do you REALLY want to promote the DG, only to have people see this utter garbage? It's certainly not something that would entice people to join (or return).

I am not stuck to Hinduism forever, as a player, but for the particular historic period we are in, I support Hinduism only.

[ooc]Once again I apologize for my inactivity but RL and other CF obligations weren't leaving me much spare time. I now have more time to spend on the Dgame and will try to get us back on track.[/ooc]

Diamondeye,
Right now happiness is not an issue as the King can call on his military to keep the people in check. As a Protector of Faith it is your right, nay duty, to promote the Ibbinise Polytheism religion and protect our people from false gods. However, I have given the Governors full control of their cities, including build qeues. Under Theocracy we would be immune from heathen religions spreading any more in our lands. Unless we adopt this, buildings or not, our religion will continue to be under attack. I just can't tell a Governor he can't construct a building to grow his city. However I will stop construction on any unnecessary religious building that is not of our State Religion. By unnecessary I mean until we are no longer under heredetary rule and another faction is in power. Once the King returns in full capacity he may revisit the issue but for now it is settled.

Votes have been tallied and the issue is settled. Current Civics (in red) will be changed to the winning available civic (in green). This will be done on the first turn of the next TC.

@Lord Civius,

The issue is not on the governed cities, but our recently captured Babylonian Cities, specificly Warfire and Babylon. But the conflict expanded when my request that Christianity was spread to Santiago, which led to Chrisianity spreading farther and now even reaching our heart, and Soul, Arete. And as I stated earlier, Civil War is approaching, whether now or later, we must resolve the conflict, by what ever means nessecary. I am personally all for not for Free Religion. Yes, I said what I meant, I am against Free religion right now but I am for theability for religious Buildings to be built, and that Holy Cities not be Sacked and Razed.
