stealing techs

does anyone know what happens when you steal techs from a civ, and you know all thier techs? do you relearn a tech, or get one no one has researched yet, or does your spy/diplo just get caught and killed

um...i don't think you can steal techs that the AI doesn't have. and i'm pretty sure you can't relearn anything either.

You spend all that money to find out they didn't have anything new. You may or may not get caught as normal.

You could check it via the trade advisor

Cornflake is paretly right, but in PBEM you won't know the techs of the opponents. Same goes when you are at war and the opponent won't speak.

Anyway, you will get a pop-up saying that your spy learned that there was not tech to steal
