    There are no words to describe how happy I would be if the Arcanum soundtrack made it's way in here. Heck, part of it made it into FFH, and that wasn't even steampunk!

    Might be getting a bit ahead of ourselves since we haven't any techs yet but we could probably start accruing quality musics to stuff in a Steampunk folder in assets\sounds\soundtrack. If anyone has any quality .mp3s they might want to upload we could give it a listen and vote in or out for each one. I... have none...

    How many songs total would be an appropriate amount?

    I'd be happy to pick out particular tracks and compile them for review by the board; though, I'd also like to see a wider project of expanding the game's soundtrack. There's quite a few very nice selections I've found for the Prehistoric and Ancient periods, and doubtless I could find plenty for the others as well, if anyone was interested. Twould be purely optional, of course, seeing as mp3s take up a load of space.

    Maybe someone could start a soundtrack thread? Not me this time, I've made plenty of topics for a while.

    Also does anyone know of any steampunk lit. That would give you an idea for a kind of non-Marxist workers' paradise? I'm trying to think of a good civic that would be the opposite of Mad Science to go in the power slot. It would, I think, offer happiness and health bonuses to various steampunk unique buildings that would otherwise be upsetting and polluting and offer a stability bonus while at the same time causing a hit to science and production for some reason while allowing the construction of some sort of workers dorm type building, it's all very nebulous. I thought a bit about a rough technocracy where the ones with the skills are the ones making the decisions but then I remembered Will Gibson's The Difference Engine had steampunk England under a kind of technocracy and it was rather unpleasant for the plebes.

    As all technology throughout history lead logically from one to another I'm thinking, from a storytelling perspective, that this non-marxist workers paradise would lead off from mad science as a societal reaction by the population to mechanical computer generated morality models and philosophies that begot the excesses of mad science thus reaffirming the humanistic model of morality.

    Ugh, need someone on board with a PHD in 19th century philosophy.

    Additional music would be great. I think it would need to be in a separate Music Pack though to keep the size of the main file down.

    Is Full Metal Alchemist considered Steampunk? Cause I know it has lots of instrumental music.

    Examples
    FMA - Lapis Philosophorum
    FMA - Kyoudai
    FMA - Butou
    FMA - Gaikal
    FMA - Shingun

    I deleted a bunch of MP3 lately, but depending on what you'll mean by "plenty" but the ideas here are great, and if so even FFH has a separate music pack. So no problems there.

    If there is anything currently that needs to be addressed or added to C2C lets start small and start getting things in. Just to see how it goes:)

    @steampunk1880

    So I posted in blue the alternative timeline techs. Specifically with some of your proposed ones included. Note that Computing Engines would require steampunk and at least one other tech. All other techs on the steampunk tree would require steampunk tech just to show they were linked.

    However I would think that some non-steam punk techs could be included such as Railroads as a requirement for Locomotives tech.

    I am focusing on just steampunk at the moment and shal get t the others in due time. But i wanted to at least have something in place before the next update.

    As a reminder steampunk is ...

    I'm thinking about adding more steampunk techs, and at Hydro's request am posting my ideas here for public debate.

    I'll figure out X,Y coordinates if/when we think that it's a good idea to add these.

    Here they are:

    • Mechanical Computing:
      -Requires Steampunk
      -Enables Municipal Computer

      Traction Engines:
      -Requires Steampunk
      -Enables Traction Engine Workshop (and thereby the new units)

      Mad Science:
      -Requires Dynamoes
      -Enables Mad Scientist Castle

      Dynamoes:
      -Requires Steampunk
      -Enables all three Dynamo buildings.

      Underwater Steam Engines:
      -Requires Traction Engines and Mad Science
      -Enables Nemo Academy and Nautilius (as soon as I add it)

    So what does everybody think? Also, bump. :bump:

    Biopunk content are not in the game yet Steampunk stuff are however. Look under civpedia under Steampunk tech to see the requirements for each building and unit. Some require different things such as the Steam Tanks need a Traction Workshop in order to be built. The Traction Workshop needs Steampunk and (Rubber or Tires) resources. The Steampunk Tank also requires Coal and (Iron or Steel).

    However there are easier ones to obtain such as Nemo's Naval Academy which just requires 3 Naval Academies and Steampunk resource (plus size 13 coastal).

    I assume various steam driven airships will be in here.

    Have you guys thought of alternate line of religions or ideologies for these punk eras?

    It just would seem weird to have only the normal ideologies to me.

    :lol:

    If I have time Ill dream some up, and post some thoughts. I do not know if I will get the time to fully make them. If I do mod, I would like to really focus on some good old fashion wacked art.

    Here are some links that could be inspirational.
    There are good roleplaying systems, video games, and images here.
    Tech trees, ideas for units and technology, pics which could inspire units, etc.

    The ideas alone are worth pulling out.
    Maybe the non-technical players and lurkers of C2C could help the modders by searching for and sorting ideas.

    Everyone please chime in on your favorite ideas.
    I hope this inspires someone.

    Some ideas I had when researching the Dieselpunk stuff which better fit in the Steampunk era.

    - Pneumatic Tubes
    - Tesla's Lab

    Tesla is steampunk? I mean he's a mad scientist but he's also most closely associated with electricity which is dieselpunk. While I can envision him building lighting guns and shiny chrome robots with vacuum tubes, I don't see him doing a lot with gears and steam, or going all Victor Frankenstein on a corpse. Maybe it can act as a bridge between the two eras as another way to get dieselpunk resource like the dieselpunk cultural wonder but requires steampunk.

    Are these Mass Transit pneumatic tubes or Mail Service pneumatic tubes?

    @steampunk1880

    Nikola Tesla (July 1856 – 7 January 1943)

    Steampunk = 1837-1910 AD
    Dieselpunk = 1910-1945 AD
    Atompunk = 1945-1965 AD

    Nikola Tesla basically comes around the discovery of Electricity.

    Also I am thinking perhaps this would be a better building.

    - Wardenclyffe Tower (aka Tesla Tower) (1901–1917)

    In short Nikola Tesla seems to overlap both Eras in that Tesla Electric Light & Manufacturing was formed in 1886 but the Wardenclyffe Tower is not until 1901.

    I ment the mail tubes, but the Mass Transit ones would be cool to add too.
