stEspNES - Conflict of Interest

Xen, its only been a couple of turns, I can increass your expansion and growth if you want, i was just saying that i would compensate for your abscence.

OK, if orders are in by tonight (10 hours from now) I can update, otherwise it will come on Monday as I have no net access tomorrow. Glad you all still want to play.

Orders (story will follow after the update)

A)begin expansion in all directions
B)introduce the Kyrenican religion to all these places, and set it up as just as much a priority as introdcing Kyrencian government to those areas. begin establishing cities, the city of Akrotiros on the peninsula of the mainlan close to the home island, and the city of Numantir more inland. if the large island west of the home island can be reached, found the city of Agider
C)encourage the growth of both population, and economy in the capital city
D)start reserching metal workingl, and enciouraging acholarlly pursuits in the feilds of science
E)grow economy as much as possible, showing the effect of all the territorial expansion, and the growth of cities

Orders (No motivation for story right now, perhaps after update):
- Expand the knowledge of Bronze and our religion to the other tribe nearest to us and begin attempts to convert, teach then new ideas and do not in any way, provoke them...
- Continue to investigate the Properties of Bronze, and continue to hammer away at it, Set up Imams to continue to research its mysterious properties, and attempt to find out how the barbarian tribes got Broze, send 20 Riders as scouts to navigate around the tribe..
- Continue the Irrigation Canal to Jadipuur.

I just got back from vacation! Please, gimme a little time to write my orders. PLEASE.:(

To Ildaria

Hail! We would love to expand our knowledge of the world. Shall you allow explorers, travelers, and diplomats from my nation move through your territory? And perhaps we may exchange world maps?...

To Dalekoda

Good marriage that one was, eh? Nearly brought a tear to my eye. Anywho, though I do wish you shall consider a union with my nation for sometime in the fututre, let us enjoy a good alliance, shall we?

We are currently wishing to expand our borders eastward. And considering how you don't seem to have threats to your borders (unless you consider me a threat:hmm:? ), could you donate 100 warriors or spearmen for a few turns? We shall give you exclusive trading rights within various districts of my empire...

Oh yes, and do be on the lookout for strange creatures called "horses".;)

I need trhe diplo answered to complete my orders. (Got em right now saved on MS Works)

Nah. I guess I'll post them now.

-Continue equipping my warriors with bronze weaponry.

-Send 20 spearmen from the western front to organize a workforce to build more forges and mines across the empire.

-Recruit 150 Lakaedek Hoplites. Make sure they are physically equipped for the task. (No bad eyesight or deafness!:p)

-Recruit 100 Archers and 50 Spearmen. These shall come in handy at a later date.

-With the 95 Lakaedek Hoplites that conquered the two tribes last turn, expand north along the west bank of the river. Establish a working town. Keep on the lookout for any strange animals, and do try to bring specimens back. (especially horses, or creatures that in this world function as horses.:p)

After leaving a sufficient garrison at the new settlement, much of those 95 shall fortify my border with the barbs northwest of me. Make sure they don't try anything funny. Don't look hostile, just give off the look of: "Hey, we're nice guys, but don't get any funny ideas."

-Send any reinforcements from the nice guys west of me and the newly recruited Lakaedek Hoplites, and divide them in half. Send 1/2 of them to the northernmost regions of my empire (with ample supplies), and expand eastward, settling on where I mark the X. (See below.)

Send the other 1/2 along the coast going northeast, with ample supplies, settling around where I put the X. Be on the lookout for any hostile barbaric forces, but do try to reason with them. Be kind, and give them gifts, telling them of how wonderful it would be if they were to join our grand league. (This is if there ARE any barbaric tribes.:))

-*SECRET*Send spies into Ildaria. Be very secretive, living off the land, staying away from major roads. Try to find info on their military. Then report back, using the same strategy of avoiding major roads and people.

-Send a scouting party northwest (north of them damn barbs) to try and find horses. Broing back at least 5 pairs. A pair meaning a male and a female.

-Continue work on sanitation system. Try to finish it this turn, I've got plans.

-More on tactics comes later.

Der Uber-Map.

Im going NPC for 5 Days. Keep expanding. And educating.

Alright...my internet was really screwy today. So I'll do diplomacy now. But, Espirito, if I don't manage orders tomorrow, please make my "orders" done NPC-like. I don't want to hold everyone back because of my internet provider [and occassionally procrastination]. But, one thing that must happen, is an attempted farming in the northern regions [I've just hit grassland, after all] and expansion along the northern shores of Lake Tia using 50 warriors. This is all if I don't manage orders, of course...

To: Northern tribe
From: Valua

Our brothers to the north, we believe that your becoming one with our empire would be most prudent. Our people are similar enough for there to be little-to-no problem with your integration into our nation. Your strengths and abilities would be most useful to us, as well. What's in it for you, you ask? Military protection, more advanced dwellings, our special hunter/guard cats, and an overall higher quality of life. We will not force this upon you -- this is, after all, your decision to make. You are our brethren, however distantly related, and will treat you as such. If you wish to join us, great! If not, so be it.

To: Fishing Tribe
From: Valua

This sounds most reasonable. A self-governing province you shall be, under a few condition: if some advanced development in fishing, farming, weapons, or otherwise shows up within your province, it is to be taken -- along with the inventor -- directly to the palace of the Emperor. There, the inventor shall be given credit for all history to remember for their invention, and it shall be implemented. Also, as a self-governing province, you will have the ability to maintain your own defensive military. By defensive, we mean just that -- defensive. No more than 1/4 the size of Valua's military, except in special circumstances [such as an invading army keeping the bulk of the Valuan army busy elsewhere] where it can be increased temporarily over the limit.

If you agree to these terms, then we are completely agree. Trade will be commenced and both our people shall prosper. Speaking of which...what do we call your people?

OK, I got back from my travels today, but no time for update, really sorry, my broadband (512kbps) is going at about 5kbps grrr, I can reply to your diplomacy though.

Diplomacy
To: Valua
From: Tribus Velur (North Tribe)

We would be glad to join with your mighty Empire, however we ask for concessions - the woods in which we live conceal rare spices, we want exclusive trading rights and the right to partial self-government and that our dsescendants will live in these forests without being deported.

From: Valua
To: Fishing Tribe (Triba Pisca)

We agree whole-heartedly to your terms, we are the Piscan peoples and join in brotherhood to our neighbours.

From: Ildaria
To: The Lakaedeki

We have no wish to share world maps, nor will we permit anyone not of our race access inside our borders, tresspassers shall be politely returned to the borders first time, second time they shall be executed. Return when you have something to offer us - like a military alliance against our hated foes.

OOC: I'll write a little story about the messenger presenting this to the Ildarians tomorrow.

IC:

From: The Dalekoda
To: The Lakaedeki

In return for the loan of our warriors we would require workers, 2 for each warrior and each to work for 1 week out of every month you borrow our warriors. We are not unreasonable, but we too seek expansion. We too are grateful for our alliance and propose that every 5th generation we continue to merge our lines and cement our bond of friendship. These horses you speak of are known to us in legend, it is said they can be found to the far North-West, thoug hthese are but legends and we have no fact upon which to base this.

OOC: No problem about being away AMon, if you tell me next time, I wont worry so much ;-) and GN, no problem either, we dont always have time to do everything. Update tomorrow sometime.

To Ildaria
From Lakaedekos

Hmph. Well then, you may be that way. We WERE going to offer much gold, silver, and jewels, plus our own cartographical knowledge, but I see you are "too good" for mighty Lakaedekos.

If you ever change your mind on your somewhat xenophobic policy, or if there is something we could offer you, do let us know, we wish only for warm relations with our northern neighbors.

To Dalekoda
From Lakaedekos

Wonderful, my dear friend! We accept your proposal to merge our lines every fifth generation.

Seeing as how the northwestern regions are far out of our way, next time you organize a scouting party in that direction, do let us know. We would like to contribute our own scouts, and I wish to gaze upon a horse before I die. Face it, we're getting old. ;)

We shall give you those workers. We only need the warriors for one turn. However, if I may ask, what are they needed for? And shall they learn useful skills?

Question: My Lakaedek Hoplites make up more than 10% of my army. Are they still considered an elite fighting force?

King Aegesaulus looked upon the training grounds. Well, they were more than just training grounds. They were a community. A community of soldiers. They are taken from age 10 to live in the barracks.

The barracks were the main part of the neighborhood. The boys were put into groups, called "packs". They, when they graduated, would become a single platoon of Lakaedek Hoplites.

Every day, barring those of religous festivals, they are taught many things the perfect warrior needs. They need to be patriotic, utterly loyal to the king. They need to be able to endure intense pain. It is said that the most well-trained of this elite force can take 10 stab-wounds from a spear or sword before they die. They need to know strategy. They can help their commanding officers in deciding what tactics would be best for a battle. They also need to be obedient, so they shall obey orders, and be FAR less likely to disobey their commanding officers. And they need to be physically strong. They train their bodies every day.

However, King Aegesaulus forsaw that a Lakaedek Hoplite shall eventually grow too old to fight. This was around the age of 50. So, two days out of every seven, they are trained in other crafts, after their daily workout.

The training is somewhat easy at first. But after the first year, if becomes tough. REventually, their entire life is consumed by this militarism, and they are vicious on the battlefield, ne'er afraid to die, always ready for battle.

By age 20, they graduate. They become full-fledged Lakaedek Hoplites, the elite fighting force of Lakaedekos.

'You could travel to all the ends of the earth a thousand times, and a thousand times again, and still not find a warrior as powerful or disciplined or patriotic as the Hoplites of Lakaedekos. They are the perfect warrior.' THose were the words of Philosopher/General Aetides.

And they were prevalent. They were both elite, and prevelent.

Yes, its the beginning so having 10% would mean like 10 Hoplites, not really a force, I'll tell you when you have to start increasing your 'normal' army to 90% of the size, but for now its OK.

So it'll be elite until about the Late Middle Ages or something, no matter the size? Cool. :cool:I need some diplo answered.

@Amen; wuit talkign about your UU, and get to updaten' your NES :p

@Xen
