stJNES9 - Changing Times

Great update!

Three things:

1. I started a project last turn, with one credit invested into it: Port of Trincomalee (greatly increases trade, creates road from Colombo to Trincomalee).

2. Do nations in antiquity get more troops per credit? Or different troops? Better ships?

3. Could you make a contacts list (or at least tell me if I have any new contacts?

Jason...my orders didnt get done...

Story

A History of Sri Lanka-Chapter 2 said:
2000 BC marked a turning point for the Empire of Sri Lanka. First, around then, Iron came into widespread use, and Sri Lanka, along with its trading partner, Siam, entered the Iron Age together, amond the first in the world.

Second, around 2010, the people had begun calling for a deregulated economy. And the Empire obeyed the calls of its people. It gave control to the people.

However, unlike other cases, the Emperor did not just suddenly stop supporting the economy, leading to a massive crash. Instead, the Empire gradually transitioned out of regulation, and plenty of money was provided to help the transition.

In the years to follow, Sri Lanka would begin trade with Persia and Kelsultanan Melayu Melaka , soon becoming one of the largest trade empires on the planet. It would continue its policy of making peaceful alliances with other nation. Piracy was a small threat, but it was being controlled. It was hoped that the Empire would not have to go to war...

Orders
*secret, including the map*
-Put in my project: Port of Trincomalee (greatly increases trade), which I've already invested 1 credit into.
-If Persia agrees, send them 1500 archers, in return for horses to breed, and a credit to spend next turn. If we get horses, breed them, with the aim of being able to recruit horsemen next turn.
-Expand southwards in Sumatra as shown on map with 500 infantry and 500 archers. Build the city of Medan there as shown.
-Expand southwest along the coast of India with 500 infantry as shown on map.
-Colonize on the west coast of the Indian subcontinent with 5 ships and 500 infantry as shown on map. Build the city of Veraval as shown on map.
-8 ships devoted to trading between Siam, Sinhala, and Sri Lanka. Make sure to stop at Calcutta in India, as well as at the two Sumatran cities. These ships should protect against pirates.
-5 ships devoted to trading between Sri Lanka and Persia. Make sure to stop at the new city of Veraval. These ships should protect against pirates.
-2 ships devoted to trade with Kelsultanan Melayu Melaka. These should also stop at our Sumatran cities, as well as our port of Trincomalee.
-5 ships devoted to internal trade. Stop at all of our colonies. These ships should prevent against pirates.
-Start a recruitment drive for joining the navy. If you join, you can see the world.
-Change the economy to uncontrolled. Invest one credit to ease the transfer, and help set up businesses.
-Taxes at half level in new colonies, as well as on trade and in the new cities (Veraval and Medan).
-Remaining 15 ships patrol our territories. Be vigalant for pirates, and try to prevent them.
-500 infantry build a road between Patna and Calcutta.
-500 infantry build a road between Banda Aceh and Medan.
-Remaining 1500 infantry and 1000 (or 2500, if Persia doesn't agree) archers guard our territories.
-The following map is secret.

Greetings! We are starting trade this turn, as agreed, unless you object. May both our countries prosper! Also, we have seen your great beasts called "horses." May we have some to breed. (OOC: If you do, please put it in your orders.)

From: The Empire of Sri Lanka
To: Siam

Greetings! We are going to change our economy to uncontrolled this turn. If both of us do it at the same time, it will help both our economies. Please consider it. Also, we are going to direct our forces to root out pirates. Please join us.

We are under attack. You are in risk of having an imperialist neighbore. Help us now before the Japanese are your neighbores.

1. http://forums.civfanatics.com/showpost.php?p=2325476&postcount=319 :
-Formally found the city of Trincomalee (where the trade route ends on Sri Lanka). Improve it by starting a project (which should have my one credit from two turns ago invested in it): Port of Trincomalee (greatly increases trade, creates road from Colombo to Trincomalee). Lower taxes on trade to encourage it.

2.Can you post how many more?
3. I don't know which names correspond to which countries.

Siam to Sri Lanka:Sounds like a plan. We will immediatly send out ships to destroy the pirate scum. We also will change our economy to free as it should bring us bigger profit from our trade. We will also devout some ships to our trade as well and continue to send our merchants to your land if thats all right with you.

-Orders tomorrow

Jason,
I remember starting a Public Corvee project.
What happened to it?

to Sri Lanka
Greetings.
We also wish for peace with each other's nations. A DPP sounds good. We would also like to open trade with you.
What do you say?

(OOC: Yes, I am the red one. And give me a few days to get myself back to normal. haha. My mind's pretty full right now.. :p)

ITS ALIVE! ITS ALIVE! ITS ALIVE! ITS ALIVE! ITS ALIVE! :)

IC:

Story:

Seft has died, and his son and heir was Seft (didn't see that coming, did you? ;) ).

---

Sorry, no time for a story.

Orders:
- Get more warriors.
- (If possible due to the Golden Age,) get more windriders.
- Continue calling for volunteers.
- Continue making trouble in the Spartan territory by inciting more rebellions. Contact that rebellious city-state, promise it de facto independance and alliance if it starts a fully-fledged rebellion.
- Entire army is to press on. Draw out the enemy into battle on (sort of) open ground, and launch devastating cavalry flank attacks. The enemy is probably dismoralized by now. Allow all Spartan commanders to surrender at any time. DO NOT fight the enemy if he is pinned down, but starve him out or provoke his attack.
- Try to reach and besiege the closest city (Thebes)...

From: The Empire of Sri Lanka

Agreed. We will send a few ships this turn to trade. We would ask that you keep a vigalant eye out for pirates, as they may become a problem. May our friendship always prosper!

OOC: How many troops/credit do nations in antiquity get?

Siam

There was a new golden age in Siam. Trade with Sri Lanka was helping the economy boom, and the military was becoming stronger as each day went by. But two new challenges needed to be met. One was piracy trying to disrupt trade. The emperor decided to create an official navy of Siam to hunt down the pirates. Another key issue was the decision to change the economy to a free one so trade income would increase so as to help the economy increase even more. This would also help the merchants make more for the country. The emperor knew it would be tough but it would be necessary if Siam were to become on the worlds great nations.

Siam to Kelsultanan Melayu Melaka: Greetings from the north. DPP? Trade?

Orders

increase navy by 20 ships (1tc)
use navy to hunt down pirates; join with Sri Lankan navy to do so
continue to boost trade with Sri Lanka to help increase economy and tax income (use new ships to help do so)
change economy to free economy to help increase trade and economy
continue to send merchanst to Sri Lanka (also to Kelsultanan Melayu Melaka if they allow it)
